Do you really want to use a sourcing agent, or do you want to learn how to safely source products for yourself?

I have two suggestions:
1. Read through my AMA thread:
GOLD! Sharing my lifetime experience in export/import. Product sourcing specialist.
or
2. Look at my sourcing thread:
MARKETPLACE Walter Hay’s Sourcing Service.

The latest sourcing request that I have fulfilled has been fascinating. It involved a major project for a Fastlane member in an EU country who had been unable to locate a manufacturer for a very valuable product.

Although I have vast experience in safe product sourcing I found it very difficult, and at times it seemed that the product required was not available anywhere.

My motto is NEVER GIVE UP so I persevered over a period of two months and at last I found the rare item, and a supplier willing to supply under very specific conditions.

At first I beat my head against a brick wall trying to locate a manufacturer in China. I received many false promises, partly due to Chinese culture that results in "no" being like a four letter word to Chinese people. I am very accustomed to dealing with that, so I was able to work out who was serious.

Unfortunately, although many said they could, no Chinese manufacturer could really supply, so I went to other countries in my search, and ultimately found a top class manufacturer in another country.

This highlights the value of the advice I give in my sourcing and importing book about the substantial merits of looking at countries other than China.

Using one of the B2B sites that I list among the 41 countries that I have recommended for consideration, I found the right, and possibly the one and only supplier.

The moral of this story is: Don't limit your thinking to China.

Thanks for all the information, but I may have worded my query wrong.

I need to find people who are looking to buy what i am selling (producing), this is more of a B2B transaction. So I was wondering whether there were agents who would find or have the right contacts to get in touch with people in this industry.

I know I could hire a sales team but I don't see why agents in specific countries (China / Russia / eastern Europe) could not help.

This post was in response to a post by a newcomer who was obviously intent on advertising Made-In-China.com. He was almost certainly an employee of that company and I am pleased to see that the moderators have deleted his post.

Those who have my book will be well aware of the failings of all of the Chinese B2B sites mentioned below in relation to their "verification" and rating systems. I am currently revising my sourcing/importing book and all the latest changes to their systems are included.

When it is published I will announce it on the forum.

Made-In-China.com is a relative newcomer compared to GlobalSources.com, which has been in business since 1971. I used their directory services as long ago as 1987, and they operate many trade fairs in Hong Kong and other places as well, including the world's biggest electronics trade fair in Indonesia as part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Hong Kong TDC is another very long established sourcing organization, with its beginning in 1966. It is renowned for the trade fairs and exhibitions it holds fequently. It has a B2B sourcing site and 50 offices around the world, with quite a few in mainland China.

Readers will see that Made-In-China is a late starter, but even so, it can be very useful as a sourcing tool.

I teach how best to use them all.
