My roommate has a die-cut sticker machine and hasn't done anything with it. Considering starting....

So about two years ago my roommate bought a die-cut sticker machine and started making stickers for automotive guys, I also did the same thing. It went well for a while but wasn't anything spectacular. I've told him he should start a business to do stickers for other people other than just car guys but he's never made any effort toward it.
Last night I thought about it and decided I would try doing what I've suggested to him for so long. Unfortunately he would charge me to print but less than what I would sell them for. It seems like a very easy business to set up and I would like to buy an actual printer rather than die-cut in time if it does work out.
Does anyone have any experience in a business of this sort? How did it work out for you and who were the main audience you sold to?
