Quick update - i've been working for the last couple of weeks on a site of mine, which is slowly starting to make some income. I've been working on getting some high quality back-links from other webmasters (good link building = manual labor & relationship building), and the site has gradually been increasing in search rankings.
I estimate i need about 50 high quality back-links, with good anchor diversification to get to first page and make consistent income. So far i have about 30 decent quality links. Its a gradual process.
I've also been thinking about plans which meet the FastLane criteria, which can be started with little capital, and if the fastlane idea fails i can still make 'good money'. My idea requires me to build a community (recurring visits), brand, and trust online then leverage these factors to successfully implement the fastlane idea. I can skip these factors altogether, and go straight to the fastlane idea, but i don't have any creditability yet (or brand) to successfully pull it off.
If the fastlane idea fails or doesn't take off, i still will be making good money to my estimates. However, just building the brand is going to be difficult because there's tones of competitors.
I need to figure out whether the plan is fastlane enough (i remember a article which MJ provided a good checklist?), if someone else is already doing it, and how can i successfully build a brand in this industry (find others who are already successful)
