Dear Fastlane Partners,
At the age of 8 I started selling koolaid. At 9 I started finding ways of selling my toys at the neighborhood garage sales for profit. At 13 I started a candy selling business through home and careers class. From 13-17 I sold boyscout popcorn. I tried Pizza Delivery and didn't like it. I tried baking and could not stand the early mornings. I tried being a telemarketer and couldn't stand the boredom. I tried helping at a bed and breakfast but wasn't thrilled about it. I was a TA for a philosophy logic class, enjoyed education, but couldn't force myself into a masters. I started a 2000sq ft art gallery that was completely dependent on my wife and I being present even to get by. WE did it without a business plan and with only our money/sweat. Sadly a fire on the first floor destroyed the gallery and our will to keep entrepreneuring. I've worked in social services with violent adults, drug users, sex offenders, and neglected chilren for the last six years. The 9-5, "security", negative attitudes, and paranoia of wondering if I'll leave some poor child at risk has finally gotten to me. On the 19th I start a new job in the field of hospitality which will be a whole lot less stress but is only an interim option to a long term solution.
My options at this point are: entrepreneur, writer/artist/actor, or monkhood.
I can sort of act but I've never tried plays or professional stuff. Definitely not an artist. I love writing but I need more years of life under my belt.... I have spirituality but I can't take up monkhood until the debt is paid. That leaves the entrepreneur option.
I have one venture in the works. Its a composting business for my local area. My brother and I are working on the plans now.
Authors I've read recently and been inspired by are Jeffrey Gitomer, Kiyoaski, and Napolian Hill.
I know I can reach my financial freedom and I know that you can to. Success lies in the cooperation of mutually inclusive friends and business associates. See you all in the forums.
Sincerely,
Flying Fish
