Motivate the people around you?

What I've been doing lately has been trying to motivate the people around me to think big and believe that we can live with a more wealthy lifestyle. I try to give out words of wisdom(what some would call it) to friends and family, both the younger and the older ones that I hang out with.
I'm looking to get incite on how good is it to do that, is it really better to try to give out this kind of motivation or what?
Is motivating people around you, getting them in the game something we should do?
It should help right? especially starting out from the bottom
