Today i had an experience at work that really got me thinking. I was lacing the dead tires at my shitty job with one of my coworkers when in our conversation we somehow got to the topic of dreams and aspirations. We'll call him "F'.
F: Weed is a dream killer.
Me: Yeah man I agree. What is your dream?
F: To leave this shitty company.
Me: Right on dude, how are you gonna do it?
F: I don't know.
Me: Ever thought about starting your own business?
F: Nah, you?
Me: Yeah, everyday.
F: Not worth it, too hard.
Me: I never said it is gonna be easy, totally worth it though.
F: IF its successful.
Me: When**
F: Nah man i'm a pessimist.
In my head I thought to myself "nah dude, you're just not confident enough."
Like is that not the most Bullshit excuse you've ever heard? "I'm pessimistic so therefore my life will never become anything I've ever wanted." I literally feel that someone could have given him a guaranteed 100 million dollar business idea and he would still complain that it would be too hard. I'm sure many of you have had similar experiences, i'm just glad i'm me and not him i guess. Glad i don't spend every dollar from our 10 an hour job on a beat up car to impress others. Super glad i found this community here with people who are driven for success and not content with life the way it's "supposed" to be. I guess that conversation really opened my eyes to how much the right mindset can change your outlook on life, and showed me how different life could be right now if I had the mindset he had. I'm sure many of us here used to have this kind of attitude where if the road was getting too hard we would just go the direction that society pointed us in. Being honest with myself I can say I used to be guilty of that. Stoked that's not the case anymore. 😀
