I did an online course on discipline a month ago and it completely changed my relationship to pain, difficulty and discomfort.
I've read so much about discipline and how to develop it but I could never apply it to my life. For years I tried to find tricks to be disciplined but it never worked because I wasn't targeting the real problem: my deeply rooted limiting beliefs. And these limiting beliefs made me, by the way, a weak person.
And it made me realize. Our subconsicous mind is the storage room for our limiting beliefs. And it is our subconcious beliefs that prevent us from improving. And it only takes a click in our mind, a connection between our subconcious and our conscious mind to expose and break a limiting belief.
After watching this course, I realized that I unconsciously associated discipline to restriction and pressure. I also associated pain, difficulty and discomfort to negativite emotions and avoided them like the plague. Only two months ago, I had an aversion to working out. The simple thought of imagining myself doing it gave me anxiety. And that's because I'd made the association working out > pain > negativite emotion/danger.
I went from someone working out for a few days, hating it because it was painful and giving up TO working out every day (for now a month, unbelievable) and actually enjoying the pain and the challenge aspect of it. I've also been taking cold showers for a month, I'm learning coding too. And it all happened instantly and doing these things daily require zero mental effort from me because I know that the benefits outweigh the laziness. It only took breaking a limiting belief to change my mindset and make my habits last.
