Finally after a year of hard work Labortopia has launch Beta. For now our services are only offered in the Massachusetts area, slowly over time we'll expand to other states. I would like to get as much feedback as I could get from you guys. I hope you like the elegant design and the easy usability. Shoot away.

What is Labortopia

Labortopia is a simple, one stop destination, for seekers to find services, from everyday needs like pet sitters and car mechanics, to rare requests like technical writers.

The filter results dropdowns that you have on an invalid search should be on the home page. As a consumer, I want to know immediately if you have someone in my area. As a provider, I want to know what I my competition is.

Hi,

Had a quick look around and a couple of things:

Once you are in the blog section of the site, there is no navigation/links to get back to the "service" section of the site. Only way out is the browser back button.

The FAQ needs a spelling and grammar check... believe or not, there is a section on massages!

Your webguy needs to sanitize the queries better. It is possible to get to your test/fake/inactive profiles etc. I suggest the query which returns user profiles check if they are active or not.

Also, clicking on the green results button returns every active row from your database. Is this really what you want.. especially as your site grows?

The search box should handle blank/empty searches better... it never appears to timeout. You should just test for null/empty strings before you do anything else, a very simple thing for your webguy.

I also suggest some general things about your webserver. Get a 404 (page not found) page done and don't tell the end user what version of the OS you are running.
It is also possible currently to get a MySQL error message returned. That should never get to the user. Your site may also be susceptible to an SQL injection attack ( I didnt try) but worst case scenario is your database backend may not be secure etc.

Exodia,

I see that you are also in Massachusetts (like me.) I am going to send you a separate message -- perhaps we can network a bit.

Best,
E

Thank you very much for your help. This is what I was looking for.Talking to my Dev guy right now.
