What? How could freelancing be fastlane?

Through virtual staff of course.

Freelancing is easy to get started on, but can be quite abit of a headache to manage and grow, but it's my first love so I'm going to try to turn it into a business that as fastlane as I can.

This is also my attempt at creating synergy between my different businesses. My aff marketing business needs manpower, my VRE business needs manpower, and of course, the other businesses too, once in awhile require some virtual help.

I started making my online monies through freelancing as well, so that's something I'm pretty familiar with.

Managing people to fulfill work would be the challenge in this, but I'm pretty confident.

And again, low downside, high upside.

If I fail, I just make a fool of myself. If I win, I've not only created a new business, but I would have benefited my other businesses, what's not to love?

At the minimum I'll need a full-time writer in the team.

Have been talking to one last week, he'll be starting work next week.

And then it'll be time to start finding projects for him to do!

In the meantime, we need lots of content written so he'll double
up in those roles before freelancing projects start coming in.

In the previous post I talked about the full-time writer who was supposed to start
work on the 1st September but he completely pissed me off by failing to appear
and subsequently came to to me on the 3rd saying he didn't appear because
"the terms were not yet agreed on" and I was like wtf you weren't even online what
terms are you talking about?

Anyway, I fired him on the spot and have found another lady who's supposed to
start work coming Monday.

I've always been quite unlucky hiring full-time staff and have only had 2 that made
me happy, so I'm really hoping this one does a good job, and slowly grow the team
from here.

Just chiming in my 2 cents, I have been freelancing for some time now and even outsourced my entire web design business at one point to where I wasn't doing any of the work just collecting payments. The problem with this model in relation to the fastlane is definitely entry, scale, and time. Remember the CENTS model:

Need - There is definitely a constant need
Entry - There are hundreds of thousands of people in this business because the entry is so easy.
Control - Can definitely be controlled
Scale - Can be scaled also but requires either managing the team or managing the manager.
Time - You time is limited here by how much time your spending managing your team.

Not saying it can't be done but your relying your entire business on your outsourced teams which may or may not scale quickly. Also hiring talent takes time, I can't tell you how many people I had to go through to find quality team members.

Instead maybe use your freelance skills be it web design, copywriting, whatever to create a specialized course, product, or system that can be sold to all those hundreds of thousands of freelancers or even clients. Then your balling fastlane as MJ would say.

I am in the process of doing the same myself. Best of luck out there!

@arillera thanks for the feedback, definitely agree that entry is really easy.

I'm choosing this as one model because

1) I have experience in this
2) The money is decent
3) The team I build for the freelancing team can easily be transferred over to
handle tasks for my other businesses when the need arises and gives me
synergy.

I'm relatively new to building a team, and what you said about finding quality
team members is really true :(
