Rhode Island for now.
never heard of it. I googled it to get the basics, but I didn't spend much time digging around.
Is it some quasi government program to get kids involved in business (with the pictures of Ben on the front, it sort of looked like it).

How did you hear about it and what got you interested from either side of the fence....? Tell us more.

Anybody hear volunteer with Junior Achievement?

Thoughts/Experiences?

I volunteered for a couple of years.

It's an organized program and was very well received by the school so the teacher welcomed this program with open arms. The 4th grade class was ethnically diverse and there were several very onery (and i use that word loosely) students who most likely give the substitute teachers a real run for their money.

all in all, the program was interesting. While I've had experience speaking in front of many people, this was different in the sense that it was my first time doing formalized instruction in front of a class which required two way banter & dialogue

without going on a tangent on my soap box regarding the modern student, this program is excellent in the sense that financial education is virtually nonexistent in public schools. What the Junior Achievement program brings is an entirely new perspective into the childrens' minds which they're not exposed to in their homes or among their peers.

would I do it again? sure. At this time, I've just chosen different means of contributing to society.

Thanks very much, Randallg99. Practically all the stories and experiences I've heard about Junior Achievement have been *VERY* positive. I've always wondered why this organization, the premier group bringing financial education to youth in the USA, has not been given more air time on this site, Richdad or ANY of the other financial forums I visit. For that matter, the press - espcially TV and Radio - are almost entirely silent on this great organization (the newspapers occasionally run an article).

Right now I am only able to contribute financially, not volunteer my time. My area badly needs a chapter, wish I had the hours to devote to starting one up.

Was curious what others' experience had been with the organiztion.
Thanks for sharing!
