I've finally found the niche I want to do business in. But I don't have any ideas.

My niche is automation for businesses. I want to sell software that can automate something they do, saving them time or money or making them more efficient.

But I don't know how to find ideas. I'm in a poor third world country so I can't go asking businesses directly or talking to people, nobody gives a shit about that here because the economy is dead and unsophisticated. My whole point is that I want to work with businesses from the US or something.

But I can't figure out what to automate, what service/software to sell them.

Hey! There are probably people here with more experience, but I'll try throwing some ideas out. Mind you, I don't live in a similar situation, so I would take my advice with a grain of salt! But first I want to comment on some things...

If I'm being honest, I have two issues with how you're going about this. It sounds more like something you personally want to do, rather than what people around you need. This might get repeated a lot, since we all likely read the millionaire fast lane (hence how were all here), but if the people around you don't care for automated software, then it doesn't sound like you're filling a need for them, more so just doing it for yourself. I understand you said you would rather work for the US, which again, I'm no expert on how to conduct international business, but I'm sure with the internet, it is possible.

This also might sound even harsher, but, idea wise, I don't think anyone can give you a clear idea of what you should specifically do to make money. If someone truly had a ground breaking idea for automating a business, they are more likely to just do it themselves, rather than spread the idea to the next willing person.

I don't want to sound all doom and gloom with little to no actual help, so I'll throw some ways I come up with ideas. Usually I just look at businesses and find their flaws. Then I think up how it could be better, regardless if I have the skills or not for it. For example, I like animal videos, and tend to follower specific animal pages on instagram. The problem is while I'm mindlessly consuming videos online, the algorithm ends up trailing me off into other genres. So why not create an app specific to animal content creators. I also understand how frequent animals need medical attention, and depending on the creator, they may not always have the funds, so lets monatize this hypothetical software with an option to donate to your favorite creators, with the brand being to help your favorite animals live long a prosperous life . Now our creators can monetize for specific goals as opposed to relying on ad revenue, and we get a small fraction in return. Would this idea ever work? No idea, but its something I came up with on the spot, just to prove how easy it is to quickly find an idea if you're looking for where to improve things, rather than purely looking for ways to sell. On a side note, Remember that ideas are worth sqaut, its the execution that matters.

Sorry again if this sounds a bit harsh, I can see the difficulties you're facing, and regardless if this helps or not, I know with the right motivation, you will succeed!

Enterprise software is not a niche. All the common problems have cloud solutions with whole markets built around them (CRM, ERP, BI, Sales, Marketing ...).

If you want to automate more customer specific solutions, you compete with big companies that sell custom software and consultants.

Many people make a case for starting with what you know. What you have is a vision for where you want to get, but you need to break that down into smaller goals GoalSumo.com dream chain style.

There are probably ways to get there. Maybe by getting into open source, following blogs and news articles, engaging with people in the community and getting noticed through open source contributions. But I assume: by playing the thought while trying to come up with nearer term goals you'll notice that it makes more sense to reach consumers with a simple SaaS product or app first. You'd then run a company and know a bit about what the automation needs of businesses are.

If you are an experienced developer then join any team, for example this https://www.publish0x.com/musicoin-radio/musicoin-dream-team-is-looking-for-developers-xxznmgp and look for problems you can help to solve.

Why can't you offer IT support?
So PC repairs as a start?
Then add in new PC setup and supply. Where you offer to source a PC and install it for the client and install some business software that they require.
In time you can choose to specialise in the implementation of a particular piece of business software. So maybe accounting software for smaller businesses like Sage, or quickbooks or something like that. Or you might choose to supply and implement a resource planning piece of software. You may choose to specialize in supporting a particular industry and so choose some software that is specific for that industry.
This kind of approach would allow you to start simple, grow your skills as you go and then add services to your business. If those services are popular you could choose to specialize in only those if you wanted to, or you could offer that service in addition to what you previously offer.
Hope this helps.
