I haven't seen much talk about sourcing goods from U.S. or even doing your own manufacturing? Is this not viable? I am aware of a company that closed at the beginning of covid because the owner was retirement age and didn't want anymore hassle. I think he still owns all the machines for building. I am considering contacting him about purchasing.

The viability depends on many variables, none of which you mention. What type of goods?

Construction related hand tools. Not much box stores would carry.

For years here on the forum and in my sourcing and importing book I have urged readers to consider local manufacture rather than importing.

Considering the fact that my book is primarily about importing you might think that I am shooting myself in the foot, but my attitude is to recommend what I believe will give the best sourcing result.

Check out ThomasNet for US manufacturers, but beware - they now list a lot of overseas manufacturers as well as US ones.

Let me know if you need help navigating their site.
