I decided somewhat recently to get into the app business and I am in the process of outsourcing the development of my first app. I decided to go the iOS route because of the different device compatibility issues that come with android apps. I may give android a try later, but for my first app, I am keeping it simple and going with iOS.
The thing is, I myself have a Galaxy Note 2 (and love it), and I have no desire to switch to an iphone as my personal phone. My girlfriend has an iphone 4s that I can use for the most part whenever I need it, but she uses it a lot for work and I dont want to rely solely on her phone.
I am not really an Apple guy, so I need some advice here. Does the newest ipod touch function the same as an iphone, minus the phone and gps features? My app is pretty simple and will not need any "phone" features. Could I just use wifi on a touch and still be able to test the app during the development process (probably using test fight)?
If not, what is the best way to get ahold of an iphone without dealing with the service providers? I do not want to activate the phone, I will just use wifi. Apple wants 500 bucks for a freaking iphone 4 (not even 4s!) if you dont sign a contract.
Is there a less sketchy way to get ahold of a used iphone without cell service than going through craigslist?
Once my app company gets rolling and I make some money I will go ahead and get an iphone with service just for testing, but in the meantime, Im trying to avoid unnecessary costs where I can. If anyone has been in the same situation or has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
Once I pick a programmer in the next few days I will start a thread about about the process that will hopefully be helpful to others starting app companies.
Thanks
