Starting out…
I want to build a mobile app. Originally it was just to make money. But then I realize it may be more than just that. The truth is…I want to develop extrasensory perception so I can predict the lottery numbers . So this mobile app will be created to see if extra sensory perception can be developed and honed through training.

This idea came from American physicist and parapsychologist, Russell Targ, who has devoted significant time and energy into the study of ESP. Partnering with the CIA, Russell Targ was interested in determining if people can develop this ability called Remote Viewing.

Russel Targ hired software engineers to create an application that can support others who are interested in developing this ability. What this app does is present the user with 4 colored squares, and the user’s job is to “sense” which of the squares would reveal an image to the user on the screen once selected. If you chose wrong, the correct square would light up and no image is shown. It’s a simple yet effective process. With each attempt, you get direct feedback to check if what you are sensing corresponded with the correct choice. You selected the Blue button but the Green button lit up. You think to yourself “I knew it was the Green button”. That “i knew it” feeling shows the gap where you felt something, but yet, you still didn’t choose what you sensed was the correct answer. I’m not sure but this was an interesting concept.
(Russell Targ - Wikipedia)

After several attempts, I became more fascinated with the idea of getting in tune with this extra sense and wanted to create an experiment of my own to train. Now enters the experiment of J B Rhine of Duke University, who had also developed a similar experiment using zener cards. (https://exhibits.library.duke.edu/exhibits/show/ourduke/item/13403)

Time to make a mobile app
I need to choose a cross platform development framework targeted for mobile apps. It’s important that this app is available for both Android and iOS. I am choosing Flutter over React Native because even though that is a strong community behind React Native, I find that Flutter has invested more in documentation and is supported by Go
ogle. And you don’t bet against Google.

The language behind the Flutter framework is Dart.

Some time later...
The mobile app has been created and is live at Project Kinesis.

Tech Stack
Flutter
Firebase (Hosting, Database, Authentication)
Ads (AdMob)

Now that I am "off the clock" and have the app released I learned a few things...
  • This was a solution in search of a problem
  • Few people care to develop clairvoyance (except one dedicated user)
  • It's not just upload and your rich, marketing is more important that a "good idea"
  • AdMob earnings aren't going to pay the bills unless millions of people use the app daily

Overall, it feels good to build something and bring it to production BUT we are not solving a real problem so making update to the app feels like a drag because the feedback loop is not firing.
