As some of you may know, I'm in school and have an ebook operation as a primary means of gaining money to fund bigger and better things.
tl;dr: Someone got into my Amazon account, lost access for a week.
Last Sunday, at 2:16 in the morning, I get an e-mail notification from Amazon saying the changes on my account have been successfully applied.
Oh shit.
The changes to your e-mail address have successfully applied.
Double oh shit.
This week has been absolutely bogus.
Calling Amazon every other day, getting the unintentional runaround. Finally, after a week, I finally get access back to my account. Sales shrunk in that week of not putting anything about. Luckily, the one that compromised my account only tried to refund the phone I bought for a refund. Amateur...
Holy shit if that wasn't an eye opener for having a lack of control. One password getting cracked and suddenly I'm potentially out thousands of dollars. This was a pretty small event in the grand scheme of things, but now I further understand the necessity of control.
Luckily, I started creating a load of content for my new website, so that's a plus-side.
