Hey guys,
Just thought id make an introduction before getting stuck in the forum. Apologies if it becomes too much to read! I'm no fastlaner as yet, but heres a background story.
20 years old now, graduated from high school 3yrs ago. Semi professional soccer player and spent the most of my childhood years training my a55 off and studying hard in school. An "A grade" student and an aspiring professional player. At the tip of my game, i got injured badly and it took me out of the game for some time. Took one hit and 8 years of training down the tube haha - still got the talent and a little older, but i realise now after reading the TMF that it was the slowlane; until and only IF i made it to fame and sealed a contract (BUT STILL SLOWLANE).
Due to my 'then' belief systems, I made some stupid decisions and decided not to go to uni and got a slow lane job in construction. My thought processes consisted of -> finish apprenticeship, go to uni, become super specialised, and phase out somebody else life working 60 years til death. Always thought it was BS but i never questioned the way people lived... We were sold the slow lane from birth from my parents, teachers, TV, the 'gurus', everyone but i never took a step back to analyse that 'reality' (what was i thinking!?).
After 1.5 years in construction, got injured and subsequently lost my job and was put to the sidewalk. I managed to save 10K on 8$ an hour for 1.5 years working 40 hours... 320 per week busting my balls to make my boss rich - thats when i realised the gravity of the my choices that there must be something more to life. A way to exceed financial mediocrity and live life the way I WANT TO LIVE IT.
19, no job, almost permanent damage to my physical body (Hands), no chance of working any time soon, no income, lost my then-girfriend, and a whole expensive road for physio costs over the course of 4 months recovery; I questioned everything at that point! I knew then that the slowlane was BS, that i wasn't gonna get rich sitting at home, moping around thinking about past experiences.
I faced the fact: that i wasn't sitting home, vegetables as hands and an incompetency to open doors, pick up a fork, a can, whatever because of my boss, my parents, my gf.
I took responsibility over my choices and my life. I experienced the sidewalk and slow lane in 2 years and i vowed i will never be brought as low as i was before.
----------
To now: All recovered, I've spent the last 6 months reading books on business, entrepreneurship, technology, and anything i can get my hands on to transition to the fastlane. Ive spent a while digging through forums and reading. Got a job in feb (temporary) and already saved around 9k to start something (need to work on executing a process asap).
I actually stumbled on TMF (Thanks MJ!) and this forum a couple of weeks ago at 3am in the morning whilst studying self made millionaires. I bought it the same morning and finished reading it the other day. Easily the best book i have ever read. No BS. It turned my perception of wealth upside down and confirmed some of the ideas i had about life and wealth. It basically changed my life and my future choices; it has exposed the road to success. Most importantly, Ive conditioned my mindset to think like a fastlaner; I'm no longer the same naive kid back then. Talk is cheap around here i know, which means i need to take action and soon. But i feel like i am ready now. BTW i am NOT looking for sympathy or anything of the sort - Its merely a sum up of the past and where i am now.
I realise this has turned into an essay, but in all honesty, if i hadn't taken the choices i made, i don't think i would have found The Millionaire Fastlane nor a community so generous and dedicated to improve the lives of others. For that, I am extremely grateful and proud to be part of the fastlane community!
