I have slaved away as a Web Developer and technical PM but my passion is being a Recreational and technical Dive Instructor. Yes, I have been living a scripted life.
Last year I took a huge risk to live the life of my dreams and go Unscripted . Last year I had an amazing offer to live in Jordan and assist in starting up a new branch of and existing Red Sea Dive business.
In a bold move I sold everything. I liquidated my car, belongings, everything. What I did not sell, I gave away until I was down to a small footprint in a storage locker. I began to live an amazing life. Things were going my way.
When I kicked off this venture a year ago, it was working. On any given day I was earning freelance income from being a Dive Instructor, a Dive Guide, or shooting freelance underwater photography for tourists. It was working. A small income but it went a long way in Jordan.
Then October 7 happened, war exploded in the region. The result of the war in Israel has destroyed tourism in Jordan. Business has dried up. Unfortunately for all my best efforts, I failed. Now I am back in Seattle, and I am destitute. No car, no job, no stuff.
Would I do it again? Yes
Will I do it again? Yes
Do I have any idea how to recover? No
Any suggestions on bouncing back from a crushing failure are welcome. Thanks!
MJ,
You have REALLY inspired me to break the mold and write my own script. Please grandfather me into this forum. I need you all now more than ever.
Thank you!
