I've started compiling information for my blog from various charities and nonprofits about their experiences organizing a dinner gala fundraising event. I would like to hear from the people on this forum about their experience organizing and pulling off a gala fundraiser (particularly a DINNER fundraiser). And, with your permission, I would like to post your experience to my blog.
-What was your objective for holding the dinner fundraiser?
-How did you secure funding? i.e. corporate sponsor, budget, etc.
-How large was your gala?
-How many people did you work with to pull it off?
-How long did it take you plan? i.e. months, weeks, etc.
-Did you work with a professional planner, plan it all yourself, or work with a committee?
-When the big night came were there any hiccups? How did you handle them?
-How much money did you raise by the end of the evening? Was it what you expected to raise?
I'm sure many people here have been involved in charity galas. Even if you were just attending, and not planning, I would like to hear about your experience as well. What did you like about the evening, and what did you dislike?
I will be organizing my own 501(c)(3) soon and would like to kick things off with a great dinner gala fundraiser, but I would like to know a little more about what I'm getting myself into.
Thanks for your participation.
