Hello,
After years of development we got our new product ready.
We just started selling in the US and all is good.
Now we want to go global with our product. The idea is to focus on finding suitable distributors in every country/area instead of taking care of fulfilling orders.
The question is: Where do we find someone that can advice us on strategy, structure and negotiation of international distribution deals?

Can you list the skills you are looking for?

If it is to draft contracts, you can look for a lawyer. If it is to negotiate, someone good at sales and used to commission, who understands the specific culture in target country. If it is the structure of distribution, someone with experience in international logistics. etc.

If you plan to do these yourself and just want the advice, look for slightly larger and successful companies in related sector. Who worked there during their international expansion? Where are they now? How can you contact them for general advice? You could also read about companies and their operations and gain some insight through that, specifically when and why a international distribution deal failed spectacularly?

Hi, sorry for the late response. I missed your post for some reason.
We are looking for someone that can help us create an strategy for expansion.
We have lots of questions to address.
For example, we would like to find a distributor for our wholesale sales in the US while keeping Amazon retail for ourselves. Is that feasible?
Also what happens if a big-box store wants our product?
Should we let our distributor approach big-box stores?
How much marketing budget should we ask our distributor to spend?
etc etc,
