A colleague (and a friend of mine) who I worked with 3 months has been developing a SaaS of his own after being introduced to the fastlane philosophy for almost a year. He's a designer and a skilled solo developer. Plus, he's practically living in a village tech wise. It's a Point of Sale and Inventory Management software with the vision of turning it into a reliable ERP system for customers like wholesalers, dealers, and corporations. Small businesses too.

We would often discuss how I can help in spreading the word out and contribute in marketing. Last time I spoke to him about throwing some money at ads for feedback, he responded along the lines of, "It's not ready yet. Still need to add some more features. I know customer feedback is important, but I just wanna work on improving the app right now."
I believe in his app. I think it atleast deserves a proper attempt of a 3-6 month long launch campaign.
As of my current knowledge, a distributor in his city is using his software in some capacity in their operations after months of back and forth meetings. He's helping them build the app THEY want.
As a fellow fastlaner, put yourself in my position and also my former colleague's position. How would you go about this? What's your intuition telling you?
