I have seen a few folks ask for a thread title change. Some may not know about this feature. I stumbled across this feature many moons ago.

Although, I am not sure if it is a INSIDERS member perk, or not.

Go to the thread you want to change the title for:
  1. Hover over "Thread Tools". A menu drops down.
  2. Click on "Edit Title".
  3. Now you can give your current Thread Title a new "Title".

I don't have the THREAD TOOLS at all, so it must be either an INSIDERS-only feature, or there's some other requirement one must meet to have it.

This Thread Tools button is definitely available for all thread starters, even if you're not an INSIDERS. At first I had made a mistake in my introduction thread's title. I started by asking mods to edit my title before finding out about that button. It's definitely there !

That must be only visible (at least for non-INSIDERS) within the first 10 days before the thread/post is locked for editing. I don't have the THREAD TOOLS on the only post I've started here (which is more than 10 days old).

If this is the case, then people would still need the help of mods to edit a thread title after 10 days. (Unless, as I said earlier, there are some other criteria which I don't meet.)

The title thread change tool is ONLY available to INSIDERS. @MJ DeMarco mentioned this in another thread.

I recently changed the title of a thread I made over a year ago.

To clarify, INSIDERS can unlimitedly edit a thread title, otherwise I think everyone else is limited to about 10 days from the date of the original post. Same goes with edit functions.

"Promoted" a thread 5 minutes ago.
Doesn't seem to do anything yet.

Don't think that does anything.

Waaaaaaay back when I administered a Xenforo forum***, several add-ons had this "promote" feature that would turn or promote forum threads into generic news articles. Summaries of these promoted threads or articles could be displayed on the homepage (or on any configured route ) in various ways like a portal, and the individual promoted thread would live outside the forum structure (thread responses became article comments).

XenPorta was one of the most popular add-ons offering this feature, but there were several others.

*** This was a very long time ago, in the early beta days of Xenforo when founder Kier Darby was going through nasty lawsuits simultaneously filed in the UK and US by his former employer and then vBullentin owner, Internet Brands.
