How do you "get creative"?

So I was torn on whether or not to put this in the books section but i'd like to just have an open ended discussion (book recommendations are welcome but of course you can probably just summarize the key points a bit)

What works for you? what have you heard works for others? , what kills it for you?

We spend all this time on the sort of nitty gritty how to but I think that can leave you with a bit of tunnel vision right?

So what's the fastlane think and do?

The more habitually you look inside yourself when confronted with an obstacle, need to make a choice, or have an opinion, the more creative you will be.

Most of everything you do is because of social pressures. The less controlled you are by social pressures, the more creative you will be.

What is creativity anyways? Making something that has not already existed. Saying something that has not already been said. Doing something that hasn’t been done? There are millions of things to make, say and do that have never been, yet. You can make, say and do new things when you stop feeling the pressure to follow the status que that other people get you to follow, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Try to make it a habit to stop seeking approval, start breaking report with people, etc.

I can attribute most of my creativity to being the opposite of a people pleaser. I have a reputation of “saying it like it is” and it greatly helps me in being able to create new things or do something “different”. I just don’t feel the same amount of social pressure to conform.
