Hey folks,
When I was six I walked up to my mom and said "I want to be like Bill Gates". At the time he had just become the richest person in the entire world, and I had just read his biography. I had also been pouring through a book that I think had the title "The Teen's Guide to Business", which was a little over my head.
Some of the ideas clearly stuck with me, because here I am 25 years later with a successful consulting business and a semi-successful self-publishing venture. The consulting gig is, after reading MJ's book, clearly a slowlane type of deal. I quit full time work and made myself a part time job where I get to pay my own benefits. It keeps a roof over our head, but I want more.
The publishing business started before I switched to consulting, actually. I wrote Mastering Modern Payments: Using Stripe with Rails because I saw so many people doing so many terrible things with their payment systems, just for lack of knowledge. To date, that book has done over $55k in sales after launching in July 2013.
A few months ago, back in April, I talked to at least half a dozen people in my product development mastermind group who, just through lack of planning and awareness, ended up owing the IRS and their state tax authorities thousands of dollars. Several of them had to put their product development efforts on hold and take on client work, just to break even.
I decided to do something about that. I put together Handle Your Business, another ebook that shows you how to set up a single-person business for success. I'm not going to sell it here, because that's not really what I'm here for, but if you're interested please take a look.
No, I'm here because I want to develop a fastlane business. I read MJ's book over the course of a single day earlier this week and I think that it woke me up out of the rut I was in. When I started down this path I said I would only do consulting until my product business took off. It's time to make that happen.
Things I think I can provide to this community:
Cheers!

Things I think I can provide to this community:
- Experience self-publishing infoproducts outside of the Amazon/Kindle universe
- Help and advice with running consulting, which I know is not the focus, but I'm sure lots of people do it to supplement their other businesses.
Cheers!
