Hi Everyone.
My name is Matthew. I'll be turning 23 soon. I've been diving in and out of entrepreneurship for a long time but was never really able to follow through with my plans. I joined this forum hoping to engage, learn, and contribute with the people on here. They say that you are what you surround yourself with and I don't have anyone in my friend groups at the moment with big goals or are creating something for themselves. Most of them are pretty lost and seek an escape from their situation. I can't relate to most of the people around me anymore. So by joining, I'm hoping I can make those friends by documenting my journey on here. I'm honestly planning to be as unfiltered as possible to make this forum a place I can brainstorm my thoughts.
I don't really have much going on for me. I would say right now is as rock bottom as it can get. I still live with my parents. I currently have no prospect, no job, and no degree. Truth be told, I might not have to pay bills at the moment but I'm very uncomfortable with the way my life is right now. I F*cking hate it. I'm getting older, my parents are getting older, opportunities are passing me by left and right as I sit on the sideline. For the past 2 days, I've been up all night thinking of my possibilities and what my next few steps are. I really can't sleep until I make a move.
So after some reflection on what I do have and the skills that I've acquired so far all night. I decided to offer video editing as a service. I spent quite a bit of time video editing in the past on a gaming channel. At the moment it is the fastest skill for me to get paid off of, get into business, and not have to re learn something else. This doesn't mean I am not willing to learn. It just means video editing is the fastest way for me to get out of my current situation and have the ball moving. It might not be anything crazy, but it beats most of the jobs I can get with my "experience" [lack there of]. I don't have crazy extravagant plans with video editing as a service as of yet. My goal isn't to go Fastlane with video editing per say, but more so move myself towards a better direction and get a positive cash flow into my bank again.
My current plan is to open up social media pages[youtube, twitter, and Instagram] and start posting on there to create some kind of moving portfolio. I plan to pitch my service as more of a consultant that offer an all round solution rather than a sole video editor. Sole video editors don't solve big problems so they can't get paid much... But if I can position myself as a consultant that uses video editing as a solution to ... scale their reach/engagement/brand, which leads to more sales/conversion etc... then I can probably propose a higher fee.
If anyone is currently running a video editing agency, I'd love to hear your perspectives. What would you do differently if you had to start out again? How would you get clients? Who would you target? How would you structure your service and delivery? Right now I have absolutely zero clue on pricing/service structures.
Anyhow even if you don't have any feedback, thanks for reading so far
