Hello everyone! I found this exciting forum after reading the book by MJ. It was truly truly inspiring.

All along, I had been a dreamer without actions - I dreamt of being a debt free person, having the ability to provide my family all the things they want, spend the entire time with my baby whenever I want without a boss bothering me.. I was handed the book the Millionaire Fastlane in Jun 2012. To be honest, I was skeptical when I first saw the title. I thought it would be just one of those get rich quick books. When I finally started reading, I was totally hooked! I couldn't stop!! I read whenever I could - on the train, on the bus, while walking back home, while waiting..The slowlane totally totally described every single part of my life i.e.work and work and retire when Im in my 70s and enjoy the fruits of my labor..I remembered the goose pimples that came up while reading that part.

After reading the book, I decided to take action - I left my secure, well paid job and struck out on my own. Set up a biz providing a service..only to realise, I've just taken on another J-O-B. The biz started wearing me down. I can only have revenue when I sell my time away. Totally not fastlane. It's just another job. It solves a need but it does not have the scale and entry is easy - there's fierce competition. Sales were slow. I made the decision to close the business last month. To date, I am still unemployed. I took up a few freelance projects to pay the bills while I spend the available time I'm left with, researching on opportunities.

This forum is filled with inspiring individuals. I had an adrenaline rush reading JackEdwards' diary. Vigilante and many others had also provided enormous insights on running a biz. I'm grateful I found this forum. Every now and then, there would be people around me saying stuff that puts me down like "if that is a good idea, the giants would be in it; they have the capital and resources. What makes u think u are better than them?" I take these comments as bullets for me to carry on. They could be right. That is why i needed more research and look at the CENTS factors.

Apologies for the lengthy intro but thank you for setting this forum up.

Hi, I'm Jerome from the Philippines. I have a job and I have a few small ventures that we've started a few years back. I have a vacation rental house which I market via internet and I'm glad that this experiment was a success. I am now looking at my options and doing some research how I can replicate this.

After reading the book, I am glad to hear that there really is a get rich quick model that works. I thought it was a myth. And yes, 40 of hard work to enjoy 'retirement' money is not appealing to me either.

I'm going to spend the next few days learning what I can in the threads in this forum.

I'm excited to join and introduce myself to the crowd. Name's Dean.

I was project managing large software implementations and just burned out. The largest was a 70-hour-a-week project for two years, culminating in a 24X7 death-march schedule for the latter 7 months...with a billion-dollar client that was intent on pounding their money's worth out of the engagement. After I hit the production milestone, with my marriage in disrepair and near a nervous breakdown, I asked my boss for a different role in the organization.

He and his boss started a new role and had me set up some processes and whatnot. Not long after, another project came to the table and their true intention came to light: they were placating me until they figured my frustration blew over, at which point they would throw me back into another project. I was revenue producing and what I was basically told was "F*ck personal development, we need the revenue." I was told that I had to staff it and that if I still wanted the new role, I would have to confirm same in writing. I tried to salvage the situation but that just resulted in a convoluted arrangement with another group where I was kind of in two groups but not really in either. My disappointment led me to resign that position.

I'm currently in the process of validating a couple of franchises. But I'm open-minded and genuinely interested in the processes and stories other people bring to the table in a forum like this. If I made good money for people that didn't give a toss about me, then I'm sure I can do that for myself with some tweaking. I'm looking forward to conversing with the forum members here!

Hi All,

I'm really excited about becoming more involved in the community. I read MJ's book a while back and have lurked around the forum without contributing. I have been spinning my wheels about getting going in business.

The weird thing is, I used to be much more entrepreneurial when I was a kid but I have let society train me out of it, maybe we are all born entre's and get bullied out of it? I set up a school newspaper when I was 6 and asked my classmates to write articles then sold them (of course the parents of the kids wanted to buy the newspaper and see their kids name in print :) It made me the kids version of a millionaire - I could buy as much chocolate as I wanted :) I had a few other ideas in my early teens, when internet was still expensive to set up an aerial from my house and beam internet across the neighbourhood, by sharing the cost I was giving cheaper internet to them and cash and a blazing internet connection for me.

Long story short, I studied Architecture at university (im in the UK) and ever since have been in a Project management job...the entrepreneurial spirit has been replaced with 'what I should be doing'. Time to change that, and regain who I am!

I hope to give some value to the community, even though I am a newbie. Thanks MJ for writing the book and inspiring me again, and thank you in advance for everyone on the forum!
