I've been a wannabe-entrepreneur for a while now, and never had the guts or grit to do anything about it. But one fateful day, I read "The Millionaire Fastlane " by MJ DeMarco. My whole life was changed.
I read that book in about three days. Before that, I was stuck in a endless cycle of trying "business", failing (read: giving up), and depression. My wife has been super supportive of me thankfully, but still worried for obvious reasons.
I've been a stay at home father for months now, and yet I don't have any sort of progress on the business to show for it. I raise my son, but beyond that, I did nothing that truly mattered. I'd watch a YouTube video on something vaguely related to business, say "that was so productive of me", and then go binge Breaking Bad while eating my Hot Pockets. No wonder I got depressed.
The Millionaire Fastlane helped open my mind to the truth. It didn't change my actions however, that was a different book, one I consumed equally as fast: "Choose Hard, Live Easy". That book genuinely gave me a power to change my actions unlike anything I've ever consumed in my entire life. No piece of media even comes close. It was INCREDIBLE. I finished the book in about a week and a half, reading it in every spare moment of time I had. I would highlight it, reread my favorite parts, and write down my insights. I would come up with tasks to apply. It was incredible.
There's no one thing I could point out in that book that directly impacted me the most, as everything sort of culminated into this holy grail of empowerment. No more motivational YouTube videos, no more feeding into the War or Script, but choosing to take control of my command and go do something about my situation. It's hard, but it's so liberating.
I'm currently attempting my first business, and am taking steps towards its fulfillment. I would love any advice or criticism anyone has, and am open to learning anything anyone has to offer. I just finished Choose Hard Live Easy yesterday as well as Wealth Exposed, and today have started to read Unscripted (which I am also enjoying immensely, and learning so much from!)
I would love any advice anyone has on coming up with a Fastlane idea. I am a big dreamer, but it tends to cause me to come up with these wildly big and outlandish things that may not be feasible (especially in one's first attempt at a true business), and so would love to hear others' opinions and thoughts, as well as how they were able to come up with ideas that are simple, effective, and Fastlane-ready. If that's already outlined in one of DeMarco's works, also let me know because I'm quickly turning into a DeMarco fanboy and reading his books like gospel.
Here's my idea, at the moment. Yes, I know it's probably getting scope creep, and way too big of a concept to start with. Also, I know ideas are worth squat, but I just want input and critique, as I move forward with action.
Growing up, I was homeschooled. There are a lot of people who are, and the numbers are growing every single year. Many parents know that school just doesn't cut it nowadays, and that it doesn't do what it's supposed to anymore. Yet, those parents then homeschool their kids the exact same way that they were schooled, and end up creating a kid that follows the same Script they did. Enter my idea.
I'm creating an AI tutor that will help parents who want to genuinely prepare their kids for life. One that teaches life skills such as how to do taxes (anyone else have to figure that one out after school was done?), social skills, entrepreneurship, leadership, and business creation. I want to empower parents who aren't sure what to do to give their kids the best education they could possibly have, with the use of the incredibly powerful AI tools we have today. One that would look at a child's needs and help them in the way they need.
I know the monkey in this position is the creation of the AI tutor itself, and severely bottlenecks my creation of this idea. I feel it's a good barrier to entry, and has great potential. I've reached out and posted on some forums and communities to validate the market, so I'll see how that turns out.
Am I thinking to big? I know easy isn't what we do here, but I feel maybe I'm thinking to broad and need to narrow my scope a bit. Any suggestions?
All that said, I would love any advice and opinions, and I'm open to making connections on here, as at the moment I have no mentors or anyone who really "gets" the Fastlane and Unscripted doctrine I've come to profess, and mostly just laugh and roll their eyes before recommending I "just go back to school" or "just be happy with what you have". MJ DeMarco and his books have been the best mentor-esque advice I've ever received, which is 90% of the reason I'm here.
