Over the last few months I've been slowly building a cheat sheet for when I'm in a rut and to get me back on track. The worst thing about these ruts is that they tend to be compounding. I don't want to complete something so I play some video games or masturbate and take a nap. Next thing I know the day is over, my wife is home, and it's time for bed. Then next day I repeat. This can go on for WEEKS without me taking any REAL steps towards my Fastlane goals. To help fight this I'm making this cheat sheet. As long as I know I'm in this cycle I can look at my list and just go through it until one of them kick starts me. I'm hoping that some of these help all of you reach your goals and I would love to hear some of your favorite life hacks to end a rut and get you back on track.
  1. What is the smallest step you can take toward your goal? Are you willing to take it? If not, what's the next smallest thing?
  2. Look deep - What's actually holding you back? - What are you feeling? Can you let this go?
  3. What are you pretending?
  4. Go for a walk or exercise
  5. Eat something healthy - REALLY healthy
  6. What if what you think to be true isn't?
  7. Breathing exercises - Wim Hof Method - Mindfulness Meditation - Long deep breathes - Ski breathes
  8. What you're doing doesn't have to be perfect - Something is better than nothing
  9. Look at your goals and commitments - Is your way of being inline with these goals and commitments?
  10. Pick a small task you want to get done - Either in your head or in writing, go through the entire process. Notice that it really wasn't as bad as your mind is leading you to believe
Let me know what you all think!

Going into nature and having appreciation for things that cost nothing...

A warm breeze...
A sunset...
A hummingbird...
A hot shower...
A warm bed...
My dog wagging its tail...
A store filled with food...

I would say it may be you need to do something different deliberately. We don't like to break out of our comfort zone. We get comfortable for awhile doing the same thing repeatedly of habitual patterns.

I would say your escaping your emotional pain and perhaps need to get in touch with your emotions and deal with whatever is bothering you instead of avoiding the issue you've been putting off.

You obviously, are probably emotionally detaching from something that is happening in your life. Men don't like to go there, but fortunately, if your playing video games and porn or whatever, you're probably not showing up for yourself, being honest with yourself, the other person, and need to step up and get it off your chest.

If you don't get that out of the way, you are stalling doing your work and making progress, and then want to escape reality instead. If you face reality, then you get it over with, and can move on. Pretty simple.

my approach when struggling through something similar is pretty basic and boring.

Just keep working.

Sometimes it takes time for your effort to return your way, can't let the psychological aspect of being new/in business seep too much.

Totally agree! On the list numbers 2, 6, and 9 are there for EXACTLY that reason. I'm a big fan of aligning your emotional and physical body. And that's a lot of what the list is about doing. Basically they are all about aligning myself with what I want to do and what my subconscious wants to do. I have a mix of physical and mental exercises in there exactly for this reason.

I'm sure you know that it's not always easy to find the "under lying issue". Each item in the list seems to help at different times. Most of the time I find that I just don't want to do the work because it's boring AF.. In which case I align myself with my goals and do one thing to get me moving in the right direction. This helps build momentum

But maybe adding something like "find what's bothering you and be upfront with yourself (or others)" or would you word that differently?

Thanks MJ! Love these. There is something about dogs wagging their tails that gives a great appreciation for life. Going to add this to my list

just added "just do it" to the list. And yea it's totally the most boring advise, but also the only one that actually matters lol. In the end of the day you just have to chug along

It's all about the way you define it in your words. It's easy to find the underlying issues if you write a lot, because typically I find the answers this way. For example: Just by reading the book on conflict for fiction, it brings up stuff to the subconscious mind. Conflict is a part of life no matter what we do. Communication is key in how we interact with ourselves through self-dialogue and when you speak with others.

Know thyself is the biggest hurdle of life. What I've learned is externally people believe they know who you are, but really never investigate, just create in their imagination what they believe based off past history, and they will keep you there forever, never acknowledging internally you are constantly growing, evolving, and reaching your potential.

Then you have those who perhaps now who may not have any background history about you, but will feel they need to teach you something you've already mastered years ago at a job. Say you have a best buddy right now, who might not have been around when you were the C.E.0. of another company, but since you never told him about it, he might not have a clue that you've walked through this process.

By Human Nature we don't ask questions, we don't investigate, and we don't research , and assume, conclude, and believe what we experience right now is what gives us a good vision of what someone is about, experiencing, and feelings. Assumptions and conclusions always get us into trouble.

Communication is hard for some people to master, and some people don't even recognize they are not actually participating in your life by asking questions. Maybe when they do ask questions, you don't realize you may give some kind of hint you don't want them to interfere in whatever your doing and their misunderstandings, miscommunication, and everything is not out in the open.

Sometimes it is stepping into the other person's shoes, and how would they react with your words and your actions. We forget to see from this perspective. Although, it's kind of complicated when your an Entrepreneur because you may have a totally different awareness then others who may not step up to the plate, which makes it difficult at times to communicate depending on how much they make the effort to grow, evolve, and reach maturity. There can be an imbalance in what one knows in the sense of coping skills, communication skills, and relating skills.

It can be very irritating if you have a different language so to speak, and other people struggle to understand why you take the actions you do or say the things you do.
