Hey everyone,
I guess it’s finally time for me to post an intro as well.
I’ve been reading along here for around a year now, so here’s a bit of context on why I’m even in this forum.
I'm 25 from Germany and I've been self-employed in e-commerce for about six years now, mostly part-time. I’ve done wholesale products through Amazon and also worked on my own e-commerce store. No dropshipping.. It was always kind of semi-successful. Enough to get by, but never really at the level where I could comfortably live off it
Around two years ago, I took a job at a conversion optimization agency.
Honestly, it was one of the worst work experiences I’ve had. Low pay, a lot of workload, bad work environment. But at the same time, I wouldn’t trade the experience, because I learned a lot there. Professionally, it helped me a lot. Personally, it also made me realize what kind of work I really don’t want to do long-term.
Around that time I also read The Millionaire Fastlane , and for the first time I really started asking myself why I had only ever treated my own business as something “on the side” instead of actually going all in.
Eventually I quit the job, mainly because I also needed to finish my degree. At that point, trying to handle exams, the job, and still build something on the side was just too much. It was easily 70+ hours a week. The workload itself wasn’t even the main problem, to be honest. I just hated the job.
After I finished that chapter, my first thought was: okay, let’s find another job for some security.
And, well, guess what?
I couldn’t really find anything that made sense.
Another agency was not an option for me, because from my experience it usually meant a lot of work for not that much money. And with other companies, being self-employed on the side always seemed to be a problem.
At some point I realized that this whole approach didn’t really make sense anymore.
So I decided to fully commit to being self-employed again.
Right now, my main focus is still e-commerce: my own online shop and wholesale products. But as long as I don’t have enough capital to make that consistently work at the level I want, I’m also offering productized services around conversion optimization and e-commerce.
I ran some ads for that, got my first monthly retainer client, and now I’m at least in a position where things are moving again and I can cover my costs while building the actual thing I want to build.
That’s where I’m at right now.
