I have taken a significant and concrete step forward, specifically by committing myself to the process of becoming an independent entrepreneur.
Since graduating, I’ve spent 14 years as an employee. I put in a tremendous amount of effort and dedication at my previous job – days off, weekends, or extra hours didn’t matter to me. Whatever needed to be done, I did it with a smile, and I never went home before the job was finished. Seriously, never. After two years, the owner of the company recognized my work and made a lot of promises to me, but he never followed through – he just dangled the carrot in front of me. Over the years, the company tripled in size and profits, and we experienced significant growth. Unfortunately, the generational shift, as the company was passed down to the owner's children, combined with political power struggles among managers for their own comfort and positions, made me realize a few years ago that this was a dead-end for me.
Thankfully, I’ve always been financially responsible, and I saved enough over the years to support myself for a while and give me the chance to try my own ideas without needing a traditional job. I don’t have a lot of money, but I can take the risk and seize the opportunity. When I was a teenager, my family went through bankruptcy, so I learned the importance of financial responsibility and caution early on.
In July, I left my job, moved to another city, and since March, I’ve had my own business/corporation. This week, I moved into my own office. I have two small online income streams, which I invoice through my business. I’m not yet covering all my expenses, but I’m earning steadily while keeping my costs low. I’m planning and already working on other, long-dreamed-of projects. I just wanted to share how my process is going and the small but concrete progress I’ve made. I’m fully committed to this, body and soul. Wishing everyone the best of luck!
