Hi all,

I have an idea for a product I want to launch on Amazon.

I don't feel comfortable with manufacturers overseas because:
  1. I don't like to give away my ideas to someone I don't know.
  2. I like to be involved in the process as much as possible.
So my question is, how did you find a manufacturer locally?

I've been reading @Morethan1's So you have an idea and want to make a prototype? thread and he has some good pointers.

My product is going to be made of plastic.

There are many ways. It all depends on how much $ and how much time you want to put into it. In my situation, I was fortunate enough to have an engineering background and love to learn new things. So I decided to learn how to CAD. You can imagine this saved me a shit ton of money.

You can hook up with a freelancer to design your product if you don't know how to design. Then you can find a bunch of plastic manufacturers around you by looking at thomasnet.com.
