Fastlane 4-Hour-Work-Week Business Questions

I've seen some posts on this site which sort of have me slightly beating my head against the wall. In his book, MJ wrote that once his business was built, he was able to spend a few hours a week working (but not at a sustainable rate, from what I remember). The key here being he only did this once the business was built. I have also noticed several entrepreneurs on here having businesses that they can step away from time to time, or even some businesses where they only spend a few hours a week "working."

My question is...how did they get there? I'm assuming they put in the time, worked their a$$ off, for YEARS. Right? But, are there certain types of businesses where this isn't possible? Or it is as simple as getting the right manager/ceo in your company so you can step away?

Any nuggets of wisdom or insight will help me tremendously. Thanks.
