There are many businesses out there that is pretty normal. Conforming to the norm. However, there are others that created their own niche, great differentiation and made a lot of money.
Here, i want to point out 2 brick and mortar businesses that is extraordinary, and do list down as many of these businesses as well.
Geek Squad
- www.geeksquad.com
- They are basically a US based computer technical support company.
- What makes them special? CEO is called Chief Inspector. Employees are called Special Agents. Phone support is called the covert operators.
- Like the Bat-Mobile they have the Geek Mobile.
- All agents dress alike in white shirts black tie.
- Sold to Best Buy and currently employs 15,000 worldwide.
Hell Pizza
- www.hell.co.nz
- New Zealand based Pizza company.
- Has 70 outlets all over NZ.
- Pizzas are named after the 7 Deadly Christian Sins.
- Sold the master franchise rights of NZ to Burger King for $15M.
- Takes the money and expands to other countries, Australia & China.
As you can see, this are 'normal' businesses but the founders cleverly rebrand and reposition themselves. And that made them great.
