I've been perusing the forums for a while and the sheer enthusiasm of this community is staggeringly uplifting. The members, the Fastlaners are some of the most driven and productive groups of people I know, and hopefully, will know better.
I am a student in UK with business and family ties in India. My family has been exporting garments ( mostly Indian dress- usually marketed for Indian people) to strictly Canada since 1986. Now, I am looking to expand territories and in tap into the niche market who would love hipster clothing! I am thinking Scandinavia, Latin America, Carribean, Western Europe; I naturally turned to friends from Western Europe who I hoped would be interested in exporting, with no good success.
I've found a new star designer- who I have complete faith in and eventually,want to start a clothing brand- We've designed Skirts, Beach Overthrows, Fashionable Scarfs as well as the usual Indian dresses you'd expect. These clothes are very off-beat and have a strong 'Mughal' perhaps 'Kamasutra', If I dare say, vibe going on.
I am constantly looking for contacts to expand the export business which is in Wholesale, but I'm getting too many maybe's .. Where should I look for contacts ? How should I approach them ?
