My aim with this Process And Execution thread is to contribute to the forum.
For anyone who’s interested, here is my introduction to the forum.
I’m starting out with no prior experience (entrepreneurial/programming) and I’m very eager to learn.
I completed my 1/5/10 Planasy.
I have an idea for a Decentralized Application that I want to build and put to the market. The idea needs work in the CENTS framework, and that’s part of my plan.
I’ve identified two courses that I think will provide me with the foundation of skills to build the application. I hope that as I work through these courses, I gain the knowledge to see the problem I’m trying to solve in a better way. Thereby, making the necessary adjustments using the CENTS framework as I work.
The courses are Codecademy’s Full-Stack Engineering Path and Computer Science Path. Based on my research thus far, I think these courses will give me a solid foundation of skills to apply to my project. Using Codecademy’s estimations and my budget for time, I believe these courses will take me a few months to complete (4-6 months total). As for the time required to build the application, I plan to gain a better understanding as I learn and get feedback, making all the necessary adjustments. There are a ton of great learning opportunities from folks in the forum who’ve taken on a project like this, and I’m incorporating that advice into my plan.
Despite my commitment to the process, I can’t seem to shake the thought of what @MJ DeMarco wrote in UNSCRIPTED, “You see, execution is not business cards from Vistaprint with “CEO” emblazoned on them. It’s not reading books. It’s not learning Python or PHP with no basis for learning that code. We’re confusing preparation, overanalysis, and busywork for execution. Sure you’re busy, but not busy executing.”
Are these courses action-faking? I can’t tell. If they are, I’m sure someone will point it out to me over time. Maybe my results (or lack thereof) over time will be the signal. This is my biggest concern at this point.
I will post my execution progress in this thread along with any thoughts/questions I have.
Wishing you all the best,
AS
