Here is something that has been getting me in an internal rage for about 3 years now and I'd rather get it off my chest here rather than at home.
I'll try to tell you this as unbiased as I can and you can decide for yourself if this is normal behaviour.
My neighbour.
In short, a purebred benefit scrounger.
She goes out shopping, does all the housework, looks after her two twins and does all her gardening. Although she says she is not capable of being a contributing member of society and actually working.
Her husband is only half a benefit scrounger because he works, sometimes. Anyway this is not about him, that's another story.
This neighbour, (I don't even know her name after 3 years despite the fact I have to talk to her our of politeness on an almost daily basis) apparantly has a back problem and is declared (on paper) as a handicap. So she gets a few hundred euros a month and all her rent and basic living bills paid for.
She takes her two kids to school in the morning, goes home, does whatever she likes (which is sweet FA), and this is the part that gets me. Goes off to collect them approx 16.30.
The school is 2 minutes away in the car.
The school does not open until 17.00.
For three years I've been asking myself this.
Why is she always leaving so early?
Surely she must go there to help the school in some way, that's what I like to think.
But then I thought maybe it's because she has little to no human contact in the day that she needs to get there early to gossip with all the other mums that have nothing better to do.
So on the days when I have to pick my son up from school, I always see her car parked relatively close to the entrance.
I think to myself, I seriously hope she is not leaving half an hour early everyday just so she can park as close to the school as possible. No..... that can't be right, can it?
So today, I get home at half four and as I'm opening my front door, she's just about to get in her car to set off half an hour early as always.
We share the same driveway and we are in semi detatched housing. That's why we cannot avoid talking to one and other on a minimum level on a daily basis.
I wanted to ask her "why do you leave so early" but didn't want to put her in an awkward position, not only that but it's none of my business.
Then, just as I was walking in the front door I hear this (in french) "what time do you leave to pick up your son?".
My moment has come, finally I can get to the bottom of this.
"I leave 5 minutes before 5 I said". She looked at me astonished.
It was not even half four and she was sitting in her car with the engine running.
"Yeah" I said "I have a shower, get changed, something to eat etc then I leave at five to five".
There was a moment or realisation as we both saw our differences.
Queue my moment to ask her why she leaves so early.
"You leave early every day" I said
This was her response.
"I've got two kids and if I don't get there early I have to walk a long way".
Shock of shock horrors.
I cannot belive this bitch who does nothing all day and spounges off the tax payers money felt perfectly comfortable saying this to me.
"Yeah otherwise you have to walk really far" was all I could muster and we left it at that.
She went off half an hour early to get her"special car parking space" and I went in, did what I had to do for 25 minutes and then drove to the school to pick up my 3 year old.
Now, today was no longer an ordinary day.
I'd just been told from the horses mouth the exact reasons I was dreading hearing and was trying to push away from thinking.
This is one lazy bitch I got living next to me.
So, I decided that I'd measure the difference of me arriving 25 minutes after so I could understand her logic of not having to walk so far.
She parked her car, as always approx 100 meters or 110 yards closer to the school than me.
What a brilliant champion she is!!!!!!!
Not only that, I counted the difference in time it took me (a fast walker) to get from my car to her car.
By setting off almost half an hour earlier, she had won an WHOPPING 40 SECONDS!!!!!!!!!
Then of course there is the return trip with the kids so that makes 2 times 40 which equals about 1 minute and 20 seconds of walking time that she has gained by getting there so incredibly early.
WAY TO GO CHAMPION, YOU GOT ME BEAT!!!!!
I knew she had a smug look on her face when she saw me walking down the road with my son because she was loving the fact she was closer and didn't have to walk so far.
So there you go.
What do you think of that?
