When struggling from paycheck to paycheck, I found myself to have an unlimited supply of motivation to create a solution. My hours upon hours of work and dedication helped turn around a struggling division of a large company, and my resulting commissions and income is now about 175K annually. In other words, my Slow Lane job (which I still work) has enabled my family to completely change our lifestyle. I recently bought a Lexus RX350 and wrote a check at the dealership (never thought I would be able to do this 4 years ago). Unfortunately, my commissions are all based on residuals and renewals that will stop if I leave the company.

Outside of my Slow Lane job, my wife and I run three separate corporations. One manufactures and sells fitted crib sheets and fleece baby blankets. The second one performs embroidery services for school teams, custom orders, and of course for the first company. The final corporation owns a gym (similar to Cross-Fit, but not affiliated).

All three of the companies are profitable, but certainly not wildly successful by any stretch of the imagination. When I was in the process of building them I was willing to work all hours and do whatever it took. Flash forward to today:

After working a 12 hour day (Slow Lane job) and going straight to the gym to teach an evening class, the last thing I feel like doing when I get home is any work whatsoever. I have three corporate tax returns to file before 3/15/15, and I just can't get motivated to do it (I'm almost done). I rebuilt the website for the first company, and it only took a few hours (but I have been planning on doing it for almost a year).

The corporations, as they are now, can certainly not support my family until they grow larger. BUT I seem to be losing motivation to build them up. I have entertained the thought of bringing on a business partner for the first corporation that would know more about internet marketing and website development, and I have entertained the idea of bringing on a working partner to the gym (to help free up some time). The loss of motivation seems to be derived from the fact that I simply do not have a current financial need, but of course the end goal is more time with the wife and son.

Maybe I'm just tired and need a break, or maybe I need to shift my focus. What are some thoughts?
