So i've been thinking (disclaimer: This will be heavily bro science but think about it). I'm all about living in the present and looking towards the future and leaving the past behind. However, this is easier said then done.

The failures and regrets of my past and the past hurts can definetly effect my present state of mind and make me make irrational decisions. It is a lot better than it was a year ago and I see it improving week by week but it's not perfect. I have however found that eating foods that are filled with "life" makes me more "present to the moment" and optimistic. I genuinely believe that our past traumas and pain are deep imbedded within our physical cells. Studies have shown that social rejection and failures impact the same parts of the brain as real physical pain. Could eating foods that are filled with life (fruits, vegetables, fresh fish and eggs) help accelerate this process of getting rid of the past and living in the moment?

What do you guys think? I know it sounds out there but I believe it.

Google Raw Food or Fruitarian. That’s exactly what they believe.. and I think there’s some significant benefits.

I believe in this too. I have a biology background and had some courses on gene expression. They talk about how gene expression is affected due to certain external factors. And these can be altered. I think things like PTSD have storage of physiological stress in your body/cells. Exercise, good sleep and good diet can work wonders. Whether you are sick or healthy, you can't go wrong with this type of lifstyle/habit.

I speak from experience that my mental and physical condition has improved greatly. The other part of this is your environments both at home and on the outside. Try your best to be in growth environments. Avoid people and places that are hostile and negative. This also includes cutting off friends and family that have be historically/presently damaging.

100% this. I used to always believe "no new friends no new friends - drake" but then that would mean I would stop growing. Especially if those friendships were made from destructive habits such as smoking weed and playing video games (for me anyways).

As I get older, I find that I will only associate those who are focused on self improvement and towards a brighter and better future. Out with the old in with the new. The same as the food to keep this thread relevant.

Definitely keeping it fresh rather than processed appears to be the better short term and long term decision. Cleaner energy, better feeling for your mind and body, keep it fresh!

Eating foods that are "alive" is important for your health & mental well-being.

By that I mean fermented food like sauerkraut, or yogurt. Filled with live bacteria that improve stomach health and digestion. In fact gut health also has an impact on your mental state (The gut-brain connection - Harvard Health)

Do some research into it, it's pretty interesting. (Not really what you mean by food that's "alive," but its what I was thinking when I saw the thread title)

i mean foods that still have "life" force in them. This means things such as fresh fruits (or frozen fruits), fresh vegetables, yogurt as you mentioned. Anything that also has lots of water in it. Eating things like rice, bread, dead meat, flour, processed cheese, corn products are all "dead". They have no life in them. I truly believe eating foods filled with water and life will make you feel more "alive". Most people look dead inside because they are eating dead food.

I agree. Much like our cells hold trauma, in theory, so do the cells of the animals we eat. Think of the terrible energy you are consuming then, considering how animals for food are treated. I think this is why some cultures, like certain buddhists, are vegetarian.
where did you hear the idea of cells holding trauma? I believe that is true and that if we can "shake" it out, our trauma and past will stop running us. Would like to research this more so if you have any ideas or books on this topic let me know!

What he said was true about your cells....hence why fasting is so big in the world except in the western parts of the world. We have to give our body real rest sometimes and allow the body to naturally heal and detox itself. The body heals itself at the cellular level. its called autophagy. There are so many benefits to fasting.

Also what I have been doing is slowly easing into being a vegetarian. As of now I am up to two days vegetarian. I fast 48 hours during the week. Usually on my least intensive days and just read and research stuff such as my business. The other 3 days I eat meat but still consume a lot of vegetables and berries and grapes. It is pretty interesting and for sure has a effect on how I think and my energy levels. I may go up to 3 days vegetarian by the end of summer. Switching off and on has really allow me to still enjoying my life somewhat as well as being healthy. Its all about ratios. Also by eating 'alive foods' they should be eating raw to obtain the full nutrient absorption. I believe the best ratio was 80% raw.

Mens sana in corpore sano - Try a diversified diet, the Mediterran diet is regarded as one of the best. The Romans were very advanced in some aspects.

Got rid of my protein powder. After not having it for a month and sticking with Whole Foods even protein powder begins to feel synthetic and I feel the effects immediately (groggy). Mix protein powder. With a couple drops of water in a tupperware and see what happens after an hour if you let it sit. It turns into a plastic texture.

Going off my other thread about alive foods, what “Alive” protein sources are there? By Alive I mean anything that still has its cels alive and hydrated. I was thinking maybe really fresh fish but that would be expensive. I am going to stick with eggs after I eat this last batch of chicken I made. There is no way eating something dead for so long is good for you.

Raw plant foods, as fresh as possible. Sprouted seeds and beans, like garbanzo beans, mung beans, broccoli sprouts.. Fermented foods like tubs said, saurkraut, kimchi, kombucha, tempeh, etc.

I don't have any sources for that, it's just what I believe. I think everything carries energy and it can be good or bad. Like if you had a stolen item people would say it carries a bad aura or "juju".

So true. The more “awake” you are the more you can feel energy. Thanks for the list I will give it a try. The topic of “energies” goes deep and it requires someone to achieve TRUE freedom (both mentall, physically, and spiritually) to detect energies of other. What do I mean with true freedom? It means letting go of past conditioning and the opinions of others and you are relying Entirely on your instinct and trusting that the present moment will get you through. Very deep topic so let’s keep this on food for now.

I genuinely believe that our past traumas and pain are deep imbedded within our physical cells.

If you want a good read, check out "The Body Keeps the Score," by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD. The best read on mind-body trauma links.
