I am a new member, and I hope to be with you guys for a long time. I had a question on a small business for a little more cash in college.
As a background, I am an intended Finance major, going into my second semester of college in January. I have saved my money since I was 5 years old, and spent very little. I am now interested in doing something I love, and I can get great experience and money while doing it (hopefully!).
To cut to the chase, next semester I am thinking about getting a 20 hour a week job, taking 16 credits, and I would like to see if I can start a small business. I would like that business to be personal finance consulting.
I have studies investments/personal finance for a long time, and I believe I have a lot of knowledge to get students through college and a little bit after. I just had a couple questions:
1) Would this be a good business to start in college?
2) Do I need a licence to start this business?
3) Any helpful tips?
I have definitely not done my research on this yet, because I want to see if I could actually do this. I have a 5-6 week winter break and I think I would want to do my research, develop a business plan and marketing strategy so I can start this next semester.
