I've recently found that you can write software much faster and fairly reliably if:
1. You spec out PRD and detailed agile-like user stories for what you want built - see BMAD method for the spec-driven development
2. You put codex on a literal loop overnight.
This was after one seasoned, successful software entrepreneur - a friend of family - has told me "you are using AI for development but you are spending too much work on it.[...] I have three 200$ Claude Code coding subscriptions [...] and they code for me all the time, even when I sleep; and even when I talk to you." I know he had at least 3, maybe (much) more employees.
Two nights later after doing the setup I've told to you above, I had Codex on High reasoning complete a whole Epic overnight for me - and a pretty big epic (epic: a big deliverable for users, normally taking 2-8 weeks to deliver before LLMs were a thing)

Details: the conversation led me to researching on how I can do the same, which led me to BMAD method, and in particular what agile development (not a new concept) is. It ties in perfectly. Crazy how I missed out on it earlier.
Also, perhaps unsurprisingly, LLMs are much better at following what&how to do vs "a very good definition of how".

- "You are using AI for development but you are spending too much work on it."- And indeed. I'm in front of my laptop 80 hours a week. 90% of time I'm just waiting for the LLM to do it's processing. Damn slow, and I'm wasting a bunch of time.
Set it up. Keep in mind that BMAD will take you 8 hours or more to set up, but this is how you start writing software that will feed you for 1-2 years ahead.
For my project it took 16 hours to set up because of so many details.
