Just to clarify ... the stock was $8 bucks. Now it's barely a $1 buck and change.

This is why I avoid bio-techs.

Anyone care to share how much $$ they lost? Or do we only share our winners?

This is my first and last biotech. I'm currently down ~$2400. Worst part is that after all the reading I had done on actual investing, (lynch, graham, o'niel) I still speculated on this, even with a sum of money that hasn't really negatively affected me, as It was profits from another trade and a small portion of cash on hand. No excuses though, It was a humbling experience and I'm glad I learned the risks of binary events/speculation first-hand sooner than later.

Take your biotech play money and go to a casino. At least you can get a "free" room, "free" drinks, perhaps a dinner, VIP club access and maybe a nice vegas show comped. All Biotechs will give you is a "free" tax loss :)

I will sell off 75% of my position upon phase III trial news and hold onto the remainder for future partnerships and FDA approval.

I've been following the L4P thread by the minute, but can't post in there because of a low post count hahah

Yeah, things definitely seem to be in the favor of the longs; especially that point you brought up about the new PR company. The adjustment of wording in regards to Celsion and Thermodox on the website and in the PR appear much more reassuring, too.

Why do you avoid biotechs specifically MJ?

I learned my lesson on a stock called Cell Therapeutics, long ago. (Can't remember exact details: Was long around $9, next day it was a one buck.) The bath I took has kept me clean since.

This stock reminds me of the same BS.

OK, so for a newbie about the market like me, what is going on? (please speak slowly and with small words. Thanks)

In slow words: ... hope ... you ... sold ... by ... time.

As far as I see the share dropped 80%, it might be a buy now as people tend to overreact on bad news. I earned some on Knight Capital by that way. After all I stick with MJ that gambling on the exchange is just that: a gamble. It shouldn't be your vehicle to get rich but it's useful when you are rich.

Currently in Phase III trial of Thermodox, intended for liver cancer patients.

There's been heavy insider buying and literally NO selling during the last ~3 years. Max Link , chairman of the board, and CEO Michael Tardugno hold 400,000 and 200,000 shares, respectively. Other directors have been doing nothing but buying lately as well.

Info was brought about on another forum; I just wanted to open a discussion with the many experienced members here.

I'm sitting on some calls. I mentioned it in this thread here https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/ge...onth-whats-your-method-choice.html#post254742

I actually hold the Apr and not Feb calls though. It's high risk but the reward could be substantial. I would not advise anyone to buy it, it is a gamble, but the reward outweighs the risk imo.

I'm long the stock and calls as well. I think it'll either go to $20 or $2 in the next month or so... the implied volatility on this thing is huge.

When the news comes out I'll sell... the announcement will probably be released after-hours and the stock will gap up or down the next day. That's when I'll sell.

Someone also got their clocked cleaned as well.

Could be an order entry mistake for the 6.17 low -- 6 and 9 are close neighbors on a numeric keypad.

That was one serious bear raid IMO; seen in so many other biotechs. Lesson learned, unfortunately, for all those who had stop orders at 7, 8, 9, etc. Held all the way through and bought more on the dip.

edit: apparently this is the latest "news"

1. A T7 halt was issued when shares of Celsion plummeted to an intraday low of 6.17. Flyonthewall issued this brief note as well. I reached out to management directly asking what had happened, and the response from Greg Weaver, Celsion CFO, was "We have no further information right now, and are in contact with nasdaq and trading desks to sort it out." Celsion CEO also subsequently provided a brief, general follow-up saying " fundamentals here are strong and have not changed...Company remains on track." Nobody can be sure of what happened (leak, bear raid, whatever), but the responses from Celsion management do give me some reassurance.
2. Obviously lost in this news, Roth Capital issued a new report as well today, and the link is provided below. From the report, the author states "Nasdaq has indicated its belief that the intraday dropwas driven primarily by retail and some short interest pressure coming through. Recall that the stock performance has been strong and sustainable as of late as investors have been making bets on HEAT. Other feedback we received from investors was that if it was a leak or institutional selling, the negative stock pressure would have been sustained.

Yep. Locked and Loaded!

There was some crazy volume towards the end once rumors about the CC came out. I personally called in, as did lots of others, and they confirmed it. 5 minutes later Celsion sent out a PR about the conference lol. Can't even imagine the volume for tomorrow, but we'll find out in a few short hours! GL

Taken from ihub:

"WE ARE GOLD -- CHECK THIS OUT

(1) New descriptions of TDOX in the PR, in part:

ThermoDox® delivers higher concentrations of chemotherapy directly to the tumor site, capturing micrometastases (tumors too miniscule to be detected) outside of the RFA ablation zone, which are most commonly responsible for post-treatment disease recurrence.

(2) No lawyer cautionary language.

(3) Never used before phrases such as "tumors too miniscule to be detected" Proof:

(4) Why would they go into extra, descriptive, and a detailed confident description of what ThermoDox does if it didn't work?

(5) I've been saying for a while now, and few seem to understand, that the key is ThermoDox gets the distant micro cancer cells not so much at the local tumor site or even the margins, but outside the margins floating around just outside and nowhere near where RFA can reach. This area is where most of the distant recurrence comes from. This new PR, for the first time in a PR, says that ThermoDox "captures" those cancer cells. Not "intends" to, or "tries" to -- it "does" -- the lack of cautionary lawyer language is very telling."

negative...about to get bloody

Ooof! :smxD: At least we know why they got a new PR firm, in order to handle all the investor lawsuits that'll be coming up (not saying they'd be justified). Ah well biotechs are fun.

Bangkok
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Celsion Corporation (CLSN), a leading oncology drug development company, today announced that ThermoDox® in combination with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) did not meet the primary endpoint of the Phase III HEAT Study in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), also known as primary liver cancer.

Specifically, Celsion has determined, after conferring with its independent Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) that the HEAT Study did not meet the goal of demonstrating persuasive evidence of clinical effectiveness that could form the basis for regulatory approval in the population chosen for study. The HEAT Study was designed to show a 33% improvement in PFS with 80% power and a p-value = 0.05. In the trial, ThermoDox® was well-tolerated with no unexpected serious adverse events. The HEAT Study was conducted under a Special Protocol Assessment agreed to with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"We are disappointed that the HEAT Study did not provide sufficient evidence of clinical effectiveness of ThermoDox® as measured by the trial's primary endpoint," said Michael H. Tardugno, Celsion's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We will consider following the patients currently enrolled in the HEAT Study to the secondary endpoint, Overall Survival (OS), and are conducting additional analyses of the data from the trial in order to assess the future strategic value of ThermoDox. We expect that the results will be presented in the future at appropriate medical meetings. We wish to acknowledge and thank the patients and investigators who participated in the trial."

Celsion ended 2012 with a strong balance sheet that provides the Company the opportunity to evaluate its future development plans. The Company projects its unaudited cash and investment balance to be approximately $23 million as of December 31, 2012 and approximately $27 million as of January 31, 2013.

Very disappointing news. Listening to the CC was painful to say the least. Just goes to show how risky biotechs/binary events are. Sucks for whomever risked more than they could afford to lose.

Last part of your statement is key. Painful event but as long as it won't kill you... I guess this is another example of going with the process vs. going for the event! eeeeeeeee
