Hey guys, just thought I'd share a mindset I find useful on a daily basis, and see what people think.
When you go through the education system in the US, it sets up a framework for you to work for others. Companies know that not everything you learn is useful, but the framework of your skills is intended to be something they can capitalize on (as many indebted Americans realize, this isn't quite as true as it once was).
If you're an entrepreneur and not a wantrepreneur, execution is everything. Period. But in my opinion, you need an extraordinary, unique education to be effective in execution. Why? Because barrier to entry. Businesses that can be started by anybody, are being started by everybody. They become a fiercely competitive segment of the market. Those segments are often inefficient for entrepreneurs looking to disconnect time from wealth.
So find a niche in where you'd like to execute. Whether it be through customers, books or Google queries, before execution, you should build a foundation. Once you have a base foundation, you can efficiently execute your idea. Because education should never end, you should always be building on top of this foundation. Piece by piece, get more and more acquainted with the smallest details of your framework so you know things that your competitor doesn't.
But that framework is important. It's similar to a college degree, but much more effective for building wealth. You can give yourself a high school diploma, associates degree, bachelors, or masters degree in your niche. But make sure you build that educational foundation for proper execution, and once you start building it, don't stop.
You want your brain to be valuable... to your business. If your competitor only has a bachelors degree worth of educational foundation but you have a Ph.D. worth of educational foundation, you might be able to add twice the value in your business in the same amount of time that they add half. They could outwork you by 3 hours a day... and you could still topple them because you're leveraging more value in your working hours.
So to anyone who thinks they have a perfect idea...
What kind of knowledge would it take to bring that idea to fruition?
Dissect it piece by piece. Find the 5 main subjects you must master to become most effective in your business. Build a broad, generalist foundation. Now execute! You definitely do want to starting adding value as soon as possible. Though as you execute, make sure you start to build on your foundation. The taller your foundation stands, the faster you can contribute value to a business.
Give yourself a Ph.D. in your niche, if you haven't already.
