Hello Fastlaners.

One of the main challenges I've personally faced regarding entrepreneurship is moving from net consumer to net producer.
The thing is, as you get into the process of creating something from scratch, you end up facing parts of the process where you don't have the experience or knowledge to advance in your endeavor; you inevitably need to either use trial and error or need to leverage other people's work (a.k.a. educating yourself with other sources of knowledge).

Trial and error may teach you best as it becomes the most direct way to educate yourself in what works and what doesn't in a form adapted to your specific context. The most significant trade-off is that it usually takes plenty of time, and sometimes you still need help to reach a successful result.

On the other hand, leaning on the experiences and knowledge of others is often more efficient. Still, it does put us back in the consumer seat. It's a vital part of the learning process, undoubtedly. But when you look at it, while educating ourselves is a far better investment of our time and resources than mindlessly consuming content or products that don't enrich us, we are still mostly consuming.

I often find myself awash with ideas and new understanding as I get myself into fresh knowledge. But, unfortunately, it's all too easy to get caught up in the thrill of learning, forgetting that the purpose here isn't just intellectual growth. It's about becoming a net producer, taking that knowledge, and using it to meet concrete goals.

So, how am I trying to circumvent this feedback loop of consumption?

My action consists in giving structure to these new ideas and knowledge. This means making an active effort to assess, and prioritize the information I absorb, rather than letting it swarm my mind chaotically.

"The mind is a good servant but a terrible master," anyone?

Here's where I decided to give an unconventional usage to an overhyped tool - Artificial Intelligence. Rather than hoping for a magic bullet, I've used it to help me streamline and structure my thought processes.

Think of it as a mirror for my cognitive labyrinth.

I feed it with my nascent ideas, preliminary understandings, and burgeoning skills. It helped me reflect my thoughts back to me in a more structured, coherent, and understandable form.

This is akin to conversing with myself but from a different perspective. It allows me to see my ideas from a new angle, gaining a broader understanding of what I've learned.

In addition, it also suggests practical applications for my newfound knowledge. By providing these actionable steps, it assists me in turning abstract concepts into concrete skills.

This real-world applicability is vital because it keeps me grounded to my ultimate objective - that of being a net producer.

For instance, this very post you're reading is a testament to the strategy in action.

I absorbed some information, reflected upon it with the help of my AI assistant, structured it, understood its practical application, and then turned it into this piece of content.

It's a clear illustration of the journey from consumption to production. And even though I am still not close to that ideal state, I think I've found a new tool to make get the most out of the micro-process that eventually lead to the macro events that @MJ DeMarco talks about.

I hope sharing my process will resonate with those of you who are traversing the same path.

I keep reminding myself that in the context of the entrepreneurial path, the purpose of learning is to create and contribute.
