Okay so just some general background information about myself;
My name is Alec. I am 20 years old, a junior at Western Kentucky University. My major is Accounting.
During my last few months of high school (April 2014) I read the Millionaire Fastlane .
Since then I have started my journey of unconventional entrepreneur-ism. I had done hours and hours of studying, reading, and researching on what it takes to succeed in life, business, and relationships. Over the course of the past two years I have gone through much growth and change. I moved away from my hometown, entered a completely new environment, and really got to thinking about my purpose and how I fit into this world.
I want to go into business for the right reasons. I come from no place of personal gain or greed of any kind. I admit, at first those were things I wanted; or I thought I did. I always wanted to make a better life for MYSELF. With much maturing came changed economic, social, and contemporary views and I quickly learned that there is no room for self-centered individuals in the business world. I swiftly changed my focus to how I could bring value to the world, how I could help others, and ways to makes everyone's lives better.
At this point I have put forth so much time into my idea that I feel I am ready to share it with people. I feel the need to take action, I cannot keep all of this to myself or I will never see my ideas come into fruition. I've been to start-up seminars, listened to countless TED talks, and networked with different organizations in my University's community... regardless..
I NEED A MENTOR.
I really need someone that has been in this situation to help me. I have a broad general knowledge of many aspects of business: marketing, organizational management, I understand different types of businesses such as Limited Liability Corporations, Sole Proprietorships, I can tell you about patents, the importance of intellectual property, and I sure as hell can show you how to digest/construct a company's Income Statement, Balance sheet, or Retained Earnings Statement (Accounting Major remember?) However, even with a solid foundation of collegiate knowledge, I am lacking on the practical, real-world applications of starting a business.
If anyone wants to have a talk, ask questions or engage in discussion feel free to contact me on here. This is my first post. I will post an email(s) in my signature and anyone is welcome to contact me through there as well.
