Although a clean webdesign is nice to look at, the main focus lies on useability.<br /> For every website made, designers have goals:<br /> <br /> <ul> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">conversion</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">lead generation</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">mail list building</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">sharing content</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">etc.</li> </ul><br /> If a website looks clean or minimalistic, it is not because the designer gets high from designing it.<br /> It looks clean because so, it is easy to navigate and probably has big call to action headlines/buttons so that the user is taking the expected action.<br /> <br /> Although, Lings website is not how I would&#039;ve done it, her success speaks for itself. The design is intentionally made like that and not by accident.<br /> <br /> P.S. It is a rational argument about rational websites. But often these type of sites you describe are defeatist and boring. They don&#039;t inspire any emotion, and we all know that emotion is what makes the world go around. There are zillions of startups doing these identikit &quot;clean&quot; sites.<br /> <br /> I don&#039;t like them. Like I said, if the focus is on the user then I don&#039;t really care, as the they&#039;re likely testing and optimizing. But surely you&#039;ve seen those typically &quot;clean&quot; homepages that leave the user with no clearly defined path of action. These feel like a static object to me, and I almost always click away immediately.</div>

Grey Helvetica a speciality. Lots of white space. I just stand and fight my corner.<br /> <br /> I will be off air for a few days, as taking my team to Majorca (Spanish island, for Americans) for a 4-day break. It&#039;s nice to treat them after a hard year&#039;s work. We always have a trip... it&#039;s a kind of tradition.<br /> <br /> The car dealers who supply the cars for me have chipped in $5000 of spends for my 9 staff coming with me which means they struggle to spend it all, as the hotel is all-inclusive. Great, eh?
