If this is not the right section, please move the thread.

What is considered to be the best? ZoneAlarm, SpySweeper, SpyDoctor? Something else? I don't really trust online reviews because you never know if there wasn't a hidden agenda, plus each review says something different. What can you guys recommend?

I use spybot it is good, maybe a bit too good for those of us doing affiliate marketing (it removes affiliate tracking cookies, therefore costing affiliates some commissions) but it has a very good reputation and it's free!

home of Spybot-S&D, the best (according to PC World, PCMag.com, ...) privacy software available!

I used to use that, until I heard that it fell behind to some of the paid applications. Maybe I should give it another try?
Until a few days ago I used the 30 day trial of AVG 7.5, but I don't know enough to give it a verdict.

Back in my PC days I tried Ad Aware, Zone Alarm and something else I don't remember the name of. The website had a picture of Godzilla or something on it.

Anyways, none of them worked for me. I think they just made it worse.

That was the end of my PC days. I switched to Mac out of frustration.

NOD32 is by far the best I've ever used... it uses almost none of the PC's RAM or CPU, and scans every website and anything you download quickly and easily...
But, as JesseO said, not exactly cheap.
Unless you wanna use one of the free trials... over and over... I suppose.
