I'd just like to share a story from my mentor:
One day, he and his wife were eating lunch at a nice restaurant, and they were seated outdoors. Of course, when you have outdoor seating, one thing you can count on is birds. His wife took notice of the birds, darting in and out of the dining area, just waiting for someone to drop a crumb or two, and she felt bad for the little guys.
She took one of the small loaves of bread, and she pulled the crust off that soft bread, and set the whole thing down on the ground for them, and waited for them to come get it.
They wouldn't touch it.
Not a single bird would approach that loaf, even though it was sitting on the ground waiting for them...no closer to herself or any of the other guests than any of the crumbs were. They just didn't have any interest in it.
So she picked up that loaf, crumbled it up, and tossed it back on the ground. Immediately, all of the birds rushed in and began eating.
Those birds had a mindset. They believed "crumbs are for birds, loaves are for people". When they saw an entire loaf of bread sitting on the ground, it didn't even register as food for them, even though they could have feasted upon it if they'd wished.
Opportunity is everywhere...we do not live in a world of scarcity. We live in a world of plenty. Opportunities surround us, but we think to ourselves, "oh, that's not for me...that's for the wealthy". And we continue waiting for our paychecks on Friday, or our tax return, or a winning lotto scratcher.
So many of us go through life, picking at crumbs, when there are whole loaves just sitting around, waiting to be feasted upon.
