Approached by a Web Developer

I'm new to this forum. I'm currently trying to work with one of my ideas that I have. I thought of a great domain name for a project concerning weddings. When I purchased it, I intended to eventually use the domain name. A couple of days a ago I received an e-mail from a developer asking what were my intentions with the domain. He wanted to either help out with development or purchased the domain name, this is what i got off the e-mail. There are a couple of things that has me hesitant:
1. I'm not very knowledgable about the topic yet (weddings), I have been reading a little
2. I don't know much about web development
3. How to go about having him developing the website and making sure I do not lose control of it.
4. If I sell it, how much? (How would I make sure I make him pay top-dollar for it)
I looked at the developer's website and notice that the developer charges an amount that I would not be able to afford, yet. I could either keep it to myself and get the website going (current reading up on it, which could take longer) or outsource it (he could definitely be a huge help, but don't want to lose control of it). I'm looking to get some guidance on my next step and suggestions that I may not even know about. I have yet to respond to him. If this goes well, i'll be sure to update my progress. Thanks
