I think that it's going to be pretty big for them.

Especially with Apple Number One FanBoy (TM) Farhad Manjoo writing glowing pieces in the NYT.

I think smart watches will have practicality, but not at this time. Right now it's a fanboy item, but I'll be interested in buying one in a few years once the value's there.

I'd get the Motorola 360 (I think they're already making an updated version) or a Pebble Time. The Pebble Time had the most successful Kickstarter campaign EVER I believe. Look it up.

Getting a smart watch is better than just getting a fitness tracker, right? I'd buy one and was really looking into it recently.

I prefer classic high-end watches, which I cant afford yet :(

http://orientwatchusa.com/ These are reasonably priced and high quality. :)

I just got this one though. CLASSIC. LMFAO...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AWZDA4/?tag=tff-amazonparser-20

P.S. Nay to Apple's watch.

EDIT: I do believe smart watches and wearables are eventually going to be mainstream though.

My thoughts exactly... I'll wait until the watch is able to impress me with the things I can use it for.

I'm part of a tech-chat community with a lot of sillicon valley type entrepreneurs and they're ALL about the apple watch. Personally I don't want more notifications in my life.

I was the same way. Who would ever need or buy a large iPhone with no phone service, I said. A couple years later it was me buying one. Apple seems to be good at filling needs that are not well seen yet.

Apple is now partnering with IBM to bring big data to the iPad. While the tablet usage model does have ergonomic issues if used for a long period of time, I can see many applications for unchaining workers from a fixed desk. There are still security issues that need to be solved in big business though, as well as potential for pilferage of the device itself.

I like gadgets even if the apple watch is going to be an overpriced joke, it would be fun to have for a while. I did have a Fitbit Surge that could get text messages but was designed for fitness tracking.

Apple has always been the best at knowing what the consumer wants before they know themselves... with that being said, I wont be rushing out to buy an Iwatch.

I don't think i'll ever end up buying one personally. Hell I still don't even own a tablet. Just my smartphone & laptop. Apple has created a great consumer base of radical fans that will buy & defend anything Apple.

My guess is that opening sales will be good, but I just don't see the Apple Watch being anything game changing except for being able to access important information when needed.

It's been a while since anything has came out that is a real GAME CHANGER (Personal Computers, Internet, MP3 Players, Smartphones) that has disrupted & been a huge leap forward for technology. Interested and excited to see whats new big innovation will be. Were def over due hahaha!

I've taken a few app developer courses for this watch and I really like what you can do with it from that end. I think it'll do well. But no way am I trying to buy one...maybe later on down the line. Way later. I'll be a late adopter on this one.

Na...What it does is just shows notifications on wrist and some fitness information. It has an awful battery life(less than 20hours) just like moto 360 initial sale would be good but later it will fade away. By the way moto 360 looks much more elegant than apples watch. Product has more than 50% profit margin...no wonder they are going all ga ga and marketing the bitch out of it.

People will buy it because it's Apple, it's stylish, it's what everybody else does.

Personally I won't get one. We're already media-zombies. No "real" need for more distractions.

Personally, I think it's going to bomb. Can't see myself buying one... EVER.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out because as you know, my opinion doesn't matter, the market's opinion as a whole does.

What say you?

I probably will give this model a miss but 2nd Gen I will probably most definitely buy after they've fixed bugs new better add ons etc. (I know it will probably be next year but still would rather keep my money until then.)

I'm big on running and although FitBit's Surge and Charge HR did include a Heart Rate Monitor its not exactly that accurate nor great.

Now with this watch it does have dual sensors to measure your pulse but I still dont think it will be that good (but definitely better than Fitbit products) but they will soon click on that the market will be great for this once they can incorporate a Weight/Running/Rowing model that can track more accurately. Also Apple will be sneaky and invest loads into TV, Press etc to show that Heart Rates and movement tracking has alot to do with Health that is common sense. Therefore more sales for them then it will spread.

But really I've never owned a watch but these actually excite me. I personally cannot Justify paying 10k for a Rolex for bling for other than satisfaction on knowing you have a fancy watch. My friends like to Brag about owning them but its watch to me. But Apple watch with the Apps to be released will at least serve a purpose other than time.

Each to their own opinion but this is mine.

I think they shoulda went with a pocket watch ;)
Digital watches are too tacky and typically not stylish

images

I just have a mini 10' laptop
And pencil and notepad, it works great

If they had a mini phone I'd buy it, IF it was stylish.
Cuz I hate carrying a big phone.

The apple watch isn't quite what I'd ever buy

I haven't had an apple product since ipod and a 3S phone, just found other phones provided equal or better value for me. currently samsung note3, love the screen size and digital s-pen and freehand notes/sketches etc.. But I have owned apple stock for quite awhile. They obviously have created a near cult like following so the watch will do well with core group that will buy everything and get on the annual upgrade cycle.

Whats the reason of having another copy of your mobile on your hand? It's just completely pointless. But, yeah, tech and Apple fanboys will buy just to have it.

I love my Note 3 as well. Only apple products I have are a ipod shuffle for the gym, and a 3 year old macbook pro.

I could care less about the Apple Watch though. Apple showed up a bit late to that game; They've been dropping the ball over recent years.

Apple is going the way of Microsoft, meaning telling us what we need, not fulfilling a need like easy to use awesome MP3 players.

Many of the most widely used technologies started off with few seeing a need.

"The Americans have need of the telephone, but we do not. We have plenty of messenger boys."—Sir William Preece, chief engineer, British Post Office, 1876

"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers."—Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943

"Television won't be able to hold on to any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get tired of staring at a plywood box every night."—Darryl Zanuck, 20th Century Fox, 1946

Almost six years on and wearables like the Apple Watch seem to be going very strong.

What do you think now @MJ DeMarco ? Has your opinion changed at all?
