I plan to build an app but I'm currently stuck on a technical question that I can't seem to figure out. I started asking developers and I'm getting a bunch of different answers. I know the some people here are app developers, so I'm hoping that I can get an answer.

Question:

I'm building a content curation/aggregation app. The app is sort of like Apple News and Flip Board, but the app will not be aggregating news data. It will be aggregating data from a specific site(s).

Example - I want to see all of Mark Cuban's YouTube videos and all of his blog posts from his personal blog on his website.

How does the curation of the content actually work?

Do I have to tie into an API or use an RSS feed to somehow parse the data to my DB?
