I lost all my hair at 19. I just shaved it and moved on with my life. If you can't recover just man up and don't look like an idiot. Some women will care. Some will not. Not a big deal.

Finasteride / Propecia + FUE hair transplants.

That's the medically approved way to get your hair back. If you do go the FUE route, you end up on finasteride for life as a result, otherwise, the transplanted hair may fall out.

Source(s): Literally 12 different doctors.

But frankly, don't believe any of us here unless they've got a MD after their name. I sure as hell don't have a MD, but I've just talked with enough of them to know I'm at least pointing you in the right direction.

Really appreciate everyone who posted. I recently did vitals and bloodwork just to make sure it wasnt something else and my bloodwork came back great, so it is genetics.

Its starting to get worst. Not sure if its because i started rogaine about a week ago or so, but its diffuse thinning (so i have my side hair, hairline, but the top looks like patch city). And to top it off, i have family reminding me why im going bald everyday.

You don't necessarily have to take finasteride/propecia following a hair transplant. Do web searches for hair transplants without meds - you'lll see enough anecdotes from men who've not taken any and still have their transplanted hair.

My personal experience with propecia was a negative one. I took it for over a month when I was about 30 or so and I felt weird on it. Like I couldn't sit still and just felt irritable. I felt like it was definitely doing something negative to my mind and my prostate.

The inability to achieve an erection whilst on it was worrying.

Some guys don't get any side effects - but I am one of the men who did. I'd never touch that crap ever again and I advise reading up on it if you opt to go this route.

In the end I did a bit of soul-searching and decided that if I had to switch off part of my biology to hold on to a bit of hair on my head, then something was wrong with my thinking and society at large.

If a bunch of women aren't interested in me because my hairloss makes me unattractive - so be it. Boo hoo so sad, time now to worry about something important.

I bought some hair clippers for about £25 and number 1 my head all over once a week. Easy.

Ignore all the crap about rubbing juice into your skull and derma-rolling etc - male pattern baldness is genetic. Yes, stuff like smoking etc will exacerbate the on-going loss, but you're still going to lose it regardless.

Only thing that will solve the loss is a good hair transplant and nothing else.

You'll probably need 2-3 depending on how good the surgeon is.

Unless you can afford these expensive surgeries - save yourself the stress and embrace buzzing it off.

Yeah thats the issue. I went to my pcp, and they gave me the same advice as a hair transplant doctor. Taking it for life and i hear some that say they get no sound effects, some say they dont.

Did you every consider a ht? Is it still possible for you to get one if you go completely bald?

Don't listen to bald people for advice on hair loss. They will desperately shame you into joining their group as you can see in this thread. "Just shave it off bro, stop being a pussy".

Acting like they made the decision to shave it all off, instead of being forced to do it. If they had the choice of getting a good set of hair back, they would all do it.

I wish I realized that earlier so I would have taken faster action to get my hair back, instead of "just having it off bro" while continuing to lose ground, which I regret.

1. Hairtransplant
2. Finasteride (keeps your hair, slows hairloss by reducing DHT)
3. Minoxidil + 4. Dermarolling (regrows your hair by improving bloodflow, use together for max effect)
5. Nizoral (keeps your scalp healthy)

These are your best soldiers in the fight against hair loss in that order. I employ all of them and can't recommend it enough.

You can always shave it off if you lose it eventually, so depending on how far your norwood level is, don't give up without a fight.

Look up the halo effect.

And look at how Prince Williams looks 50 years old after he "just shaved bro" at age 35.

I have the nizzoral shampoo, i started the rogaine a week ago, and the propecia is what im concerned about. I also was told about prp and laser cap as well before going with a ht by dr arocha in houston.

He said i am diffuse thinning. Basically i kept my hairline but my top is crown is thining. So i guess im a norwood 3-4a?

What would you do in this situation?

Great post!

I for one can afford propecia. I can afford minoxidil. It is literally nothing for me to just take the stuff and keep my hair with no side effects.

"Just shave it bro!" LOL I'm fine, thanks. I will also be fine if that is the ultimate reality, but it probably won't be.

No shaming from me.

Hell, if I could afford the surgeries I'd certainly consider getting them myself.

I'd just get them without taking propecia afterwards - ever. I've seen enough online to suggest it's possible too - but merely my own subjective experience ultimately.

As for prince William - he doesn't even shave it off. His barber merely tidies what he has left.

He'd look better if he did indeed shave it off - all of it off.

If you go with a transplant, I'd suggest talking with more than one doctor/clinic. There's quite a difference between getting an FUT and a FUE. (Some people even get both.)

If you just want the appearance of hair, there are also some pretty good hair systems out there. However, wearing a hair system may require you to shave off some of your existing hair.

With Finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil (Rogain) results differ from person to person. For many, it does not grow new hair well. It usually just keeps what you already have and maybe thickens that.

As for shaving it all off, that's the cowards way out jk ;)

Oh and if you are interested, search Dr. Tsuji and what he's trying to do. Granted it could be very expensive when he first goes to market. But, my point is that people are still racing to come up with an even better solution to hairloss.

Finasteride is a must if you want to keep hair. If you use rogaine and nizoral you will improve your hair and give it a boost, but the root cause of hair loss (called DHT) is still wreaking havoc on your follicles and will catch up later.

Also, prp and laser helmets won't do much and cost a lot of money.

Yeah dr arocha wanted 6k for prp and said i may have to do 2-3 treatments.

Kind of feel like a deer in the street at the moment. I dont know wheter to keep going with rogaine and nizzoral and pray for the best, or go with the propecia and hope i dont F*ck up my hormones.

Or just focus on building a fastlane business that can pay for 30 ht, but the thing is , i wonder well i go bald by then or theres no hope once my head looks like a patched up version of prince william?

If it is indeed causing you this much anguish... I can actually agree with the bald bros. Just shave it off.

Not really that. Just seems really hard to decide which way to go?

Im not dr phil yet lol, but it just has really thin and patchy balding spots in the middle.

Im like 2-3 steps away from the guy at the top of this picture, so im assuming ht wise, i would with fut since the back of my head is full of hair. Also i have coarse hair so by applying some toppiks it looks back to normal.

Any idea on how much a ht can cost assuming i need around 1000-1500 grafts?

And im wondering where is there a one time ht? Because it seems like this can get expensive and buy time, not a permanent solution?

Just wondering, i see hair loss and hair thinning on top of my head. I heard the treatment for it is rogaine 5% and propecia. I just have questions about propecia as i heard it can decrease sex drive, sperm count, and questionable increases risk for cancer? Is my research correct, or anyone can clarify?
Bald is beautiful. Just shave it uniform style. A shiny skull is awesome. :)

You have to take something to regrow and take finasteride as it stands (unless you get implants) and for the amount of thinning and loss ive got the side effects of the finasteride arent worth it.

Two hard truths:
1)no matter what you do/eat hair is all genetics, on my mom's side of the family everyone has a full head of hair at any age, on my dad's side 90% lose their hair and even some women have their hair thin out a lot overtime, I was lucky I got my mom's hair genes;
2)the only way to get your hair BACK is hair transplant, minoxidil and all that new experimental stuff with weird numbers in it's name will save the savable and maybe promote a little growth but it's not worth the potential side effects for such a small prize.

My mom has been wearing tight buns all her life, the hair in the front literally rips off and grows back every year or so and her hairline has remained the same.

Mechanical damage (like rubbing/pulling) is real but if you've got good genetics it doesn't even matter, Heat on the other side could ruin your hair quality but I doubt it will make you bald...

If you're a male keep your hair short, don't blow dry it and don't rub it while wet(let it air dry), there's no way you'll hair will start thinning sooner than it was meant to if you stick to this, if you need to style it avoid sticky products or ones that are oil based.

If it bothers you either go bald or get a transplat.

One kid I know got hair trasplant at 25, let me tell you best decision in his life, kid looks like he gained back his youth, feels twice as confident, went to Turkey to spend less and they did a world class job on his head, for like 5000€(2/3 trips) he got his hair back, in my honest opinion it's much better to spend that much money rather than wonder if some snake oil will work etc...
The only thing he regrets is not doing it sooner, I guess that has to do with his young age but if it bothers you SO MUCH just go for it.
